The devil is in the details... Need suggestions

So things were going swimmingly, we got the chapel, the hotel, the flowers, the photographer, and the dress so I thought things were going well but now we are 6 months out and I AM BUGGING OUT over the details:
I need suggestions for the following:
DJ and Band
Limo
Flower Girl Dresses
Invitations
Favors (we want to make a donation to Sea Bright Rising or something of that nature but we also want to put something on the table for people, chocolate maybe)
Bridal party gifts
Do we get our parents a gift?
Can anyone get me Valium lol
Is there anything I am forgetting

HELP!
Thanks!

Re: The devil is in the details... Need suggestions

  • I 100% understand!!! I find I'm having wedding nightmares where it's the morning of the wedding and just nothing is done...

When is your wedding? and Where is your ceremony and reception? That can help people know what to suggest.

    But in the meantime...deep breaths!
  • Deep Breaths!!!

The wedding in October 5th.  We are having the ceremony at Kirkpartrick Chapel and the reception at The Heldrich in New Brunswick,

  • I can only give suggestions on anybody I used or have seen DJ Venueaudio I used and loved lower in price Elite middle of the road price and good Posh expensive and good Limos santos is always good but may be booked Action limo is really good and may be available. I would start emailing DJs tonight because they book up. Same as limos
  • Thanks for the suggestions.  and the advice that we needed to to djs first, i had a feeling
  • Do you have a florist already? I would DJ, florist FIRST. Flower girl dresses you can get at most bridal shops, department stores communion dresses, Davids Bridal, or online pink princess, flowergirldressforless, Etsy, or eBay Bridal party gifts will depend on you and your friends...not sure who can tell you that. I'm getting my girls customized robes, cosmetic bags, and gift cards.

  • Since you are getting married in New Brunswick, what about going to Thomas Sweet and seeing if they could do small chocolate favors with a card telling your guests about the donation?
  • I second Santos Limos - I've used them for a few different bachelorette parties and they were always great

Flower girl dress - I would look wherever you got your wedding dress, they might even give a discount, or at Etsy. There are some adorable tutu-style flower girl dresses on there if that's your stye.

Invitations - I personally am having a friend design ours and printing them ourselves to save money, but I really like Wedding Paper Diva's designs. I can't vouch for them any more than that though.

Bridal Party gifts - That's hard to say without knowing you or your friends, but a necklace for them to wear on the day is always nice. Or something for them to wear getting ready - monogramed yoga pants / robes / etc

Parents gifts - I would definitly get them something, especially if they are helping pay for the wedding. Maybe a nice framed photo of you with them? Some sort of keepsake for them is always nice and shows how much you appreciate them.

    You'll get there, don't worry!
  • Here's my response from: http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-club-boards_october-2013-weddings_less-than-6-months-and-i-am-not-going-to-freak-out

For flower girl dresses, we went to PinkPrincess.com. I can't say enough good things - affordable, free shipping (both ways if it does not fit) and good quality. I have 4 flower girls and one baby niece, and they are all thrilled with their dresses (well, the baby doesn't have an opinion, but you know what I mean.)

The Sandy donation is nice, but honestly, I don't 100% know where Sandy donation money is going. Our house on Long Beach Island was hit and it's still in the rebuilding process. The island is being built up slowly but surely, but it's going to take a long time.

Do you really need limos? Our church is close to our reception, and all wedding party members have families/spouses attending. I trust everyone to get to both locations with needing a limo and I know that they won't mind. In fact, it will probably make their day easier than having to come to a "limo pickup location." It will also save money.

    Invitations: check out Minted.com, TheAmericanWedding.com and WeddingPaperDivas.com
Most (all?) of those will give free samples so you can order them to see how they look in person before placing your real order.

I am getting my bridal party ss Tiffany necklaces. These are something they all wear normally and I think they are pretty. I bought my mom a Tiffany infinity necklace (for infinite love) and a money clip for my father with his initials engraved.

    Hope that helps!!

  • Thanks everyone!
I reached to Santos plus about 1000 other limo companies.  My fiance says he has the DJ taken care of but I will believe it when I see a contract or a person.  lol

@gelani - Flowers are done we went to Kathleen Keller in Shrewsbury shes awesome!
@remark - Thanks is a really good idea and since so many of us went to Rutgers it will be wel recieved!
@sewinlove - I thought that too but I was reading a little about Sea Bright Rising and a lot of the people in Sea Bright are getting money and help from them.  I hate to donate only to one town but I did spend many nights on that beach in high school.  :)
And i love your parent's gift ideas!
