Invitation Wording

Hi Everyone,

I'm a little confused about invitation wording.  My parents are divorced, neither re-married.  We're having a catholic wedding mass.  My parents and FI parents are paying the bulk of the wedding?  What wording would you suggest?

Thanks!

Krissy.

    Here was our wording:

    Mr. and Mrs. Dad Monkeysip
request the honor of your presence
at the nuptial mass in which his daughter (I wrote "his" because it's my dad and stepmom)

    Monkeysip first and middle name
    and
    Fiance first and middle name

son of Mr. and Mrs. Fiance's parents

will be united in the sacrament of holy matrimony

    Saturday, the first of June
    Two thousand Thirteen

at two o'clock in the afternoon

    Church name
    Church address
    City,State

Since your parents are divorced, instead of writing "Mr. and Mrs....", you'd write
    "Ms. Krissy's Mom
    Mr. Krissy's Dad
    request the honor..."

Some people prefer to just write "Together with their families, Bride and Groom request the honor of your presence..." to simplify the whole thing.  But you have to consider whether your parents want their names on their or not, and since they're hosting, they probably will.

I would think you could do a few things:

    Mrs. Krissylee
    Mr. Krissylee
    And
    Mr. and Mrs. Krissylee'sFI'sparents
Invite you to the wedding etc. etc. etc.

    OR

    Together with their families
    You
    and
    FI
request the honor of your presence
    etc, etc.

I used Emily Post when wording my invitations:
    Anniversary

Technically, you shouldn't put divorced parents names on the same lines.  My parents are divorced too, and paying for a lot of the wedding, my mom mostly.  My parents divorce has only been in the last few years, and it's still an ongoing issue.  Neither myself, or my mom was comfortable having my parents in separate lines, or even on the same one.  I did the "together with their families" thing, and it avoided the whole issue!
