hydrangeas on cakes-HELP

I wanted fresh hydrangeas on my cake (yes i know they're poisonous, i was going to have them situated where they wouldn't be eaten) but I have heard that they wilt easily--my florist recommended delphinium and ivory roses but I don't think delphinium has that pretty, soft look that the hydrangeas have. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do? What did you use? My wedding is on the 22nd and I am maybe freaking out a little over this issue...

They do wilt easily, but a good florist will soak the actual flowers the night before and they won't wilt. We had a hydrangea and button mum arrangement on our cake. It didn't wilt and looked beautiful.

You can sort of see it in this photo... it's on a small stand so the flowers are away from the cake by about 1/2 inch.
