Question about adding venue as "Additional Insured" on wedding insurance policy

My fiance and I have found a venue we love but one of the clauses in the contract is that you have to have the venue added to your event insurance as Additional Insured. This is making the future in-laws a bit nervous about how reputable the venue is. The venue seemed on the up and up when we visited and the woman running it seemed genuine. Is this a common practice or should we have some red flags raised about this?

Re: Question about adding venue as "Additional Insured" on wedding insurance policy

  • I think it's common and not very expensive, I've heard less than $100. We're getting married at a park that has a cottage and they are asking for insurance also
  • I am an insurance agent and this is something you can add your homeowners or renters insurance policy.  The cost is minimal and a much better option than purchasing "one-day event insurance" from a carrier.
