I bought a Monique Lhuillier Fabiana gown at their sample sale for $1100 (originally $6050 dress). I've been eyeing this dress forever and I couldn't find it used online for less than $3500 or so, so I couldn't believe what an incredible bargain I found. Only issue is that it is a size 10 and I'm a street size 0-2, so it needs to be altered significantly and the lace has wear and tear around the strap. I've been researching alterations places in and around LA and it looks like Renee in Stitches and Mina in BH are highly recommended. I'm wondering if anybody has experience with either or both places working on lace and/or significant sizing changes. I want to make sure I go to somebody who is an expert in working with high-end gowns, particularly lace ones. Any other other recommendations for tailors who do high-end designer gown tailoring would be appreciated as well! My budget is around ~$1000 since I realize this is probably complicated work.
