Getting the BP down the aisle

My fiancé has 10 groomsmen and I have 5 bridesmaids and 5 bridesmen. Does anyone have a good way to get them down the aisle since there aren't an even number of guys and girls?

My initial thought is to have 2 groomsmen walk each bridesmaid down and then just have the bridesmen walk single file thereafter, but I'm not sure if single file walking is the way I want to go.

Advice? Thanks in advance.

  • You could have everyone single file, but with 20 people that could take awhile. Alternately, you can have a bridesman walk next to a groomsman. They don't have to link arms or anything. Two adult men should be able to walk next to each other politely. No one will think it's strange or wonder if they're gay.

That's what I originally planned on doing, but then I got an unfavorable reaction from my fiancé and the members of the bridal party. Thanks for the feedback though!

We had an uneven wedding party and two GM ended up having to walk back up the aisle together. They just walked side by side like they would have if they were walking down the street.

What kind of push back were you getting?

  • Do single file, weaving one from each side (bride, groom, bride, groom, etc), but don't have them wait until the person ahead makes it to their spot. Just have one start walking right after the one before starts.

  • Could the groomsmen start the ceremony at the front of the church and have the bridesmen escort the bridesmaids down the aisle?

    I like this idea.

    That's a hugeeeeeeeee wedding party.

Just have the groomsmen at the front already.

I know and that's why I'm hesitant to do single file, because I don't want to bore everyone. That said, I may end up going with the "already up there" plan.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
