What does the bride wear to pre-wedding parties?

Is there something traditional a bride is supposed to wear to engagement parties and bridal showers? Should I shy away from white or embrace it? Or does it matter?

There's nothing traditional.

Wear a little white dress if you want, or anything will do.

Anything you want that's appropriate to the venue, time of day, and formality of the event.  There's no reason you have to wear white or anything else associated with brides to a wedding-related event that isn't the wedding itself.

Wear whatever you want.  I have seen brides in a white sundress or just jeans and a blouse.
