First Dance?

Hi Ladies,

I have lurked here for a while now ... I am planning a wedding that will be somewhere in between Christian (conservative) and "worldly" traditional. We are having a full sit down dinner, we will be serving wine and beer and there will be dancing, but we also want to hold on to our Christian values.

My fiance has recently changed his mind on the song that he originally picked for our first dance (Adele - Make You Feel My Love). So I am trying to come up with something more fitting and all I've come up with is "God Blessed the Broken Road". Is that too cheesy? Do you guys have any other good suggestions for a good, Christian love song?

I guess it's not so much about the Christian piece of it. My fiance has now decided that he wants a "love" song and not a "lust" song. I'm not sure I know the difference, so I was looking more at the Christian genre. I might turn it back over to him :-)

I love elBecko's "You Lift Me Up" suggestion.  The Prayer is good too, though I like "You Lift Me Up" better.  That said, my best friend recently got married and used the Adele song you mentioned, OP, and it was lovely. 

I dislike "God Bless the Broken Road", but I loath country music, so I'm certainly biased.  In my mind it's also cheesy, you know, in the "My Heart Will Go On" sort of way. 

Good luck making a decision.  At least this isn't something had has to be determined weeks in advance!

My fiance and I might be using "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman. It's all about how he'll stick by his wife through everything.

Our other ideas are a Colbie Calliet or a Jack Johnson song.

I don't think "God Blessed the Broken Road" is too cheesy, but I'm kind of biased on that. That's the song I'm walking down the aisle to because both of us had to go through some pretty broken situations to get to the point where we were able to meet each other as christians. I'm also getting married on Valentine's day, so I could be the queen of cliche things. 

Our first dance will be to "Amazed" by Lonestar. It's kind of funny that both of those are country songs and neither of us really like country all that much in general.

my FH has been through a LOT and we are both "new" Christians so we are really looking for something that feels like it tells our story. I will definitely talk with him about some of these songs and see what he thinks. You all have been incredibly helpful, thank you :-)

@lplions- Behold the Lamb of God is one of my favorite Christmas albums.    I had no idea he wrote a book--I'll have to check it out.  Thanks!
