Isle of Palms wedding

Hello! I'm getting married on October 9, 2011 in Isle of Palms, SC at the Wild Dunes resort. Has anyone worked with specific vendors in the Charleston area that they would recommend? Florist, Cakes, Photographers? The food is being provided by the resort but I still need to finalize the other details and I'm planning this long distance from TN so it's hard to know who is good or not.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Congratulations! We have the same wedding date, so I dount I can help much with vendors. Our DJ company is Complete Music of Charleston (they were highly recommended and if you sign up for their emails they always have deals). We are getting our cake through the Publix grocery store. We did the tasting this week and it was yummy! They have numerous design and flavor options on their website, but they seem to be open to any other ideas as well.

    Good luck!

I agree with the Publix recommendation. Great cakes.

We didnt have a DJ, but for my hair and make-up, I used Cover Girl brides. Our photograher was John Mann, he is out of Columbia, but he travels. The florist I used was Tiger Lily.

OtherBrother Entertainment has a TON of options for DJ- both Rob Duren and Ric Rush are in pretty high demand with them - they're listed in the Local Vendors section for Charleston on The Knot.

Does Wild Dunes have a list of preferred vendors that they can reccommend for you?
All the deliveries for your wedding from outside vendors will have to go through your Catering Manager/Event Manager out there since it is a gated resort - I suggest working closely with them.

Are you having the reception around the pool on the Grand Pavilion?  It's gorgeous there and makes for great pictures as the sun's going down. My wedding to my late husband was there and everyone raved about the location and the food.

I'd definitely agree with publix cakes. I'm using Tiger Lily florist http://www.tigerlilyflorist.com. We are using Complete Music of Charleston.  I saw them at a reception I was at about a year ago and just loved them.  Our Photographer we are going with Chi Photography of Charleston   http://www.chiphotographyofcharleston.com. After quite a few interviews and research we decided to go with her.  I looked into Wild dunes and just love the view.

    Good Luck!!

Yay for Publix cakes!  They are affordable and definitely yummy!  We are still undecided on florists (Branch Designs or Tiger Lily).  Lance Elzie will be our photographer (http://www.elziephotography.com/).  He was recommended by a friend and if the engagement session was any indication I think he will do a fantastic job with our wedding.  Great choice on Wild Dunes!  I went to a wedding there a couple months ago and it was so beautiful!
    Good Luck!!!

Ashley Bakery makes great cakes! You have to check out The Connellys for your photographer!

I just got married at a house there and it was wonderful.  We had Hyer Images do our photographer - absolutely amazing work.  Very personalable and they are a husband and wife team.  We are a pretty laid back couple and just told them to capture the candid moments and they did a great job.  Take a look at their website - hyerimages.com.  As for flowers - I actually wanted to do my flowers myself and of course save a little money so I found a wholesale flower company in charleston and for all my flowers I think I  spend like $300!  Awesome deal and I got exactly what I wanted.  I can't remember the name of it unfortunately but it's a little shop with a pretty big selection and I think it's probably the own one there.  Hope this helps.
