  I don't think it would be too much purple with the decor and the sash together. It will look coordinated without looking matchy-matchy. If you had a bunch of bridesmaids all in purple as well, that would be too much, but I think how it is could look really nice! Hope that helps
  
  ETA: I think your alternative option would be fine too, but you might just be over-thinking things.

  I think it will be great!  I love purple as well, but either way I don't think it's too much at all.  Even if it was orange or whatever other color, I'd say go for it!

  I am a little late here, but I agree with everyone else!  I do no think that it is too much.  I think that it will actually tie in well together, esp if you are not having BMs.  
  BTW - I love the sash!!

  Thanks I had actually had a different one but during my fittings to get my dress cut it snagged and it ruined about 5 inches of it. But I am ten times happier with the new one!
