I don't have a problem with any of that, since it is just stylistic stuff that doesn't impact guests comfort at all.

I have a problem with all the BM duties lists, who pays for what lists, have-guests-address-their-own-thankyou, and that kind of thing.

Oh, and i definitely disagree with the first one, Mumford and Sons is probably my favorite band :)

  • Yeah, I agree with PPs. To be honest, most of the stuff in the article aren't to my taste, but they don't offend me. Some things on Pinterest that DO offend me:

    • Treating your guests as ATMs (e.g. Honeymoon jars)
    • Treating your bridesmaids like Barbie dolls
And pretty much everything OjitosVerdes posted :)
I also hate any of the groom being dragged to the alter humor.  I get that it's a joke, but I just don't think it's funny.  Any "last chance to run," "Bride is finally getting what she wants" "Groom is getting a ball and chain" humor falls totally flat for me, and seems offensive.  Like, look at this: It just screams "Only one of us actually wants to get married" to me.

<div>YES! I totally forgot about these. You're right. I find them incredibly tasteless.</div>

  • I agree with all PP's!

Most of the things posted are not my taste, but I'm not gonna bash them. Almost everything is so overdone, there's barely anything original in weddings anymore - but it's not like it has to be either. Candy tables have been around for awhile now. We still had one, and it was still loved by everyone in attendance at our mostly adult wedding.

Since I was never the little girl to always dream of her wedding, I don't get the "someday" wedding boards, and most things that go into them.

I don't get the guns thing, or the being forced to the alter jokes. That's certainly not appropriate.

  • I think that picture is actually funny of the bride covering the flower girl's eyes, but the backside has to go....what is that???? She could have done something else funny, to me, her butt is just.....random and awkward.

June 1, 2013 - finally making it official!

  • I found the one I was originally after!

I do think both of these pictures are amusing; I just can't imagine asking my BMs or being asked to pose for them.

The idea of that other picture particularly is fun, but I would not be the butt girl. I am pretty shy. I think I'd volunteer to be the champagne or tons-o-snacks girl. Wink

  • I dont particularly care for the dragging someone to the alter cake topper/pics...

but I will say, my FI and I are a bit hill billy, we are country folks, we shoot, we like it...I can promise you there will be at least one small section of our photo shoot with weaponry LOL

I dunno...I think to each their own, if they are comfortable with it, doesn't mean I would do it/choose it, but I don't think its horrible.

I personally loathe anything that reminds me of a 1980's or 90's wedding...but most of that sort of thing isn't on pinterest lol

  • I also don't understand girls who have crazy wedding boards when they're not engaged. I have a friend who pins crazy things that unless they hit the jackpot, they'd never be able to afford. I know she shows her boyfriend, who she's pressuring to ask her, pictures of 5 carat rings and 10k dresses.

I also ALWAYS want to write comments when I see honeymoon jars or rude things like that.

Overall, I think pinterest (like most wedding websites) make women go crazy and think that they NEED it all and that they deserve it. Eeek.
In Response to Re: The worst wedding trends on Pinterest... :   @Angel--I am doing mason jar centerpieces too! What are you doing with yours?? We are getting married at an orchard, pretty laid back in rustic style. I don't see anything wrong with using mason jars. In fact, it kind of helped to set the theme. Not everyone wants a black-tie grand ballroom wedding.
    Posted by rel1988
I found a girl on kijiji who was selling a ton of them! So I got three different sizes, and I'm doing a grouping of 3 on each table with flowers from my FILs garden (he grows dahlias). I also really like that they're older ones that say "Canadian Mason Jar Company" on them instead of the just the typical modern ones

  • I know...the pictures of the huge rings with the "NEED THIS...NOW I JUST NEED TO FIND A GUY LOL" kind of weird me out.  An acquaintance told my FI and I how she won't get married unless the ring is at least 20 K and we were both just like...good luck with that.

  • After I attended a wedding, I love to learn more about the bride and groom, so I'm not a fan of the "cookie" cutter type of wedding.
  • Court you have to include "obvi" -makes me want to shake someone.

  • I saw one today that made me cringe. Someone pinned "Cheap men's wedding bands" onto their board... where they had SEVERAL gigantor several-thousand-dollar engagement rings pinned...

    Because THAT'S fair...
Um... can we talk about the wedding pictures where the wedding party all covers their eyes while the bride and groom kiss. You are adults, not 6 years old. It is not cute.

  • Love this.

My favourit is the pictures of the proposal with people writing comments like "Dear future fiance, YOU MUST GET A PHOTOGRAPHER TO PHOTOGRAPH THE PROSOAL"

.... or what? you'ill say no? I picture these ladies peeking around checking for a secret photographer and being incredibly dissapointed.

<div>For real. This drives me nuts. I'd hope you'd remember it just fine without photographic evidence. Although, my FI tells me he wishes someone had snapped my picture when he asked. He says it's the only time he's ever seen me speechless ;)</div>
