It's on my to-do list. Which is now verging on it's third page (front and back). Gawd woman.

What colour should I paint my nails?
Dude, I'm a tried-and-true girl. French on the fingers, crimson red on the toes.

Scuba diving is pretty amazing. The first time you go down is pretty terrifying...when you look up and there's about 40 feet of water between you and the surface and you realize you're not drowning, it's pretty daunting. I've done some amazing dives though, all over the place, and seen some pretty cools stuff (sharks, rays, turtles, etc.). It was also fantastic in that, when my endo was really bad, it was one of the few physical activities I could do...getting in/out of the water with gear all around my abdomen was pretty excrutiating, but once I was in the water, the neutral buoyancy factor felt amazing for me.

    This is a WR question.

How many varities of beer would be good at a wedding?

Why are you specializing in sharks?  Do you have a particular affinity for them?

Tell us all about the biggest beebee post that you've ever seen whilst on TK.

I have no idea...maybe 3 or 4? I've liked weddings where they've had a few all-around beers and a local brew, or a brew specific to the couple or their hometown(s). But I'm definitely more of a liquor girl myself. Everyone thinks we're going to have champagne in the bridal suite...yeah, try Bacardi Torched Cherry.

Sorry, the beer thing just happened to be on my mind.

How did you get into marine stuff, ie. scuba diving and sharks, being from Ohio?

What kind of photography are you hoping to get into?

Why are you specializing in sharks?  Do you have a particular affinity for them?
BECAUSE I WANT SHARKS WITH FRICKIN LASER BEAMS ON THEIR FRICKIN HEADS!!!!!!!!

Ok, in all seriousness...I've always been fascinated by them, even as a little kid. I'm pretty fascinated by any animal that has the potential to eat me, actually. When my commrades were playing Barbie Dreamhouse, I was watching National Geographic. I noticed someone else asked about how I got into them right after you, so I'll save that story for the next post. :)

Tell us all about the biggest beebee post that you've ever seen whilst on TK.
Dude, I've seen a lot of them. I think the worst was a girl who was debating whether or not to marry a guy before or after she got out of school. We gave her the standard advice about finishing school and building a stable financial situation before she gets married and SHE GOES OFF...called all of us racists, tells me I'm a b*tch and a whore and I'm going to hell, slammed a girl for having a biracial child, the works. Turns out two weeks later, she finds out she's preggo from the guy...a week after that, she finds out there's another girl preggo by him too. The whole thing was pretty horrible.

What is your absolute favorite thing about your FI that most people don't know.
He is the biggest goofball on the planet. He can't sing for sh*t, but he'll sing along in the car at the top of his lungs to the country station and use my hand he's holding as his personal mic. He'll pop up behind me and start dancing with me (regardless of how flagrantly girly the song may be) when I'm working out with the Wii. He's just very lighthearted and finds the humor in damn near everything. I can be a goofball too, but I've got a very serious side to me. His personality helps balance me out, and keep me from diving too far into the darker side of my personality.

Paige - she likes to garden, it is a valid question :P

When I was a kid, we weren't allowed to watch horror movies. When I was about five, I snuck down to the basement, where my dad's home office was. He was sitting on the couch, watching Jaws. I only got to see about five minutes of it before he caught me watching over his shoulder, but he sat me down and let me watch the rest, and explained that sharks really aren't like that in real life (in terms of deliberately hunting people down left and right). I was pretty much hooked from that point on.

What kind of photography are you hoping to get into?
Hmmmm...I can't really say much on that subject, because if someone took in the wrong way, I could potentially get booted of TK. I've always been incredibly careful to keep that part of my life and TK very, very seperate, but people can be nasty sometimes. Let's say I specialize in portrait work. :)

What is the best vegetable straight from the garden? And, same for herb?
Pumpkins, most definitely. I've never had the space to grow my own pumpkins, but I used to love going to the local farms and picking my own pumpkins when I used to live in OH and SC. As for herbs, probably basil.

Right now, my garden is primarily herbs - I've got sweet mint, german thyme, lemon thyme, sage, oregano, marjoram, cilantro, chives, lemongrass, dill, basil, rosemary, flatleaf parsley, cherry tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, poblano peppers, and strawberries going. I have everything in pots and don't have much in terms of vertical space (for crawlers), so I haven't had much luck with squashes or beans as of yet. I get the most use out of my herbs though...we're constantly cooking with fresh herbs, or I bunch them up and give them to friends. I'm really looking forward to getting a house sometime in the next year or two - I really want some citrus trees (lemons, oranges, meyers), melons, pumpkin, squashes...the whole nine yards.

Paige has an excellent point (there are practically no veggies I actually do like), but so do you. I do actually grow veggies whenever I can, as FI will gobble them up like there's no tomorrow. I've always got some sort of pepper plant going for him. I'm looking forward to the point where I can actually grow my own carrots and zucchini...I love me some homemade carrot zucchini bread. :)

    Favorite Sports team?
OHIO STATE BABY! I'm a huge OSU fan. Like, stupid huge. Our dog has food/water bowls that read "Official Buckeye Guard Dog", which is a total oxymoron if you know our dog. Thank you baby Jesus that FI doesn't follow college football.

Other than OSU, I'm a big fan of Cleveland sports - Browns, Cavs, Indians. I'll root for the Dolphins or the Broncos when they're not playing the Browns. I can't stand UMichigan, the Ravens or the Steelers. I think the Miami Heat is the spawn of Satan.

US city you want to visit most?
I've been all over, so that's a toughie. I'd love to see New Orleans, Nashville, Las Vegas, anywhere in Oregon/The Pacific Northwest. I hear Salt Lake City is gorgeous. I really want to go back to Charleston (SC)...living there was two of the best years of my life.

Best flavor of Pop-Tarts? (I'm eating wild berry...yum.)
They used to make Mint Chocolate Chip Pop-Tarts. They were like an orgasm in your mouth, they were amazing. I've only seen them once or twice though (major bummer). Other than that, you can't go wrong with S'More Pop Tarts.

    My turn! Dear Oceana,

Where the crap did this post come from? (it's kind of awesome)

I remember that BSC girl, too... that was the craziest/saddest thing I think I've ever seen. (wait, that's not a question!)

How long have we known each other? I lost track.

If I come visit you someday, will you take me scuba diving? Or at least snorkeling or something? And will there be mojitos?

How can I motivate myself to write case briefs? I hate doing it, they're hella boring even though I like discussing the cases. I think I just hate sitting down all quiet-like and trying to summarize by myself.

What are two things (aside from getting married, obviously) that you hope happen on your wedding day? One serious thing and one funny/crazy thing, please.

    How hardcore am I?

It was totally Audgie's unintentional idea. It's kinda awesome, ain't it? I like this whole getting-to-know-you crap. :)

How long have we known each other? I lost track.
We're going on three years now. Holy shite. :)

If I come visit you someday, will you take me scuba diving? Or at least snorkeling or something? And will there be mojitos?
Um, there is always mojitos at Casa de la Oceana. Sugar free or regular, your pick. And hellz yes, I'll take you snorkeling. If you wanted to go diving, you'd have to get certified, but I could hook you up with that too (FI is a dive instructor!).

How can I motivate myself to write case briefs? I hate doing it, they're hella boring even though I like discussing the cases. I think I just hate sitting down all quiet-like and trying to summarize by myself.
Beotch, go write your summaries or I'll sick ricky on your arse. And then go to the gym.

And then get in the kitchen and fix me a pot pie. :P

What are two things (aside from getting married, obviously) that you hope happen on your wedding day? One serious thing and one funny/crazy thing, please.
    Oh man, just two? :)

As for serious, I seriously cannot wait to meet Mr. Man. I may have to steal him from Mama for a dance. He's been such a part of our lives without actually being physically in them. I'm going to try really, really hard not to cry my eyes out when I see him. :)

I also cannot wait to see my family. Somehow we managed to get my mom's entire family coming, so it will be the first time all of my cousins have been in the same room in about four years. We're all super tightknit, so that's probably the thing I'm most excited about (save for actually getting married).

As for funny stuff...I can't wait to hear/see people's reactions to our vows. I'm hoping people laugh their asses off. I've got a few little funny surprises planned for some of the guests that I can't wait to see get pulled off. I hope we can pull off the casino...we're talking about swinging by the local casino (veil and all) and having me play some slots for my grandma (she was a hardcore slots fan). My 13 y.o. cousin is one of my bridesmaids, and she came up with the idea to have a girls-only slumber party the night before the wedding, goofy pjs and all...I think that's going to be some hardcore fun.

    How hardcore am I?
So hardcore. I wouldn't f* with you. ::shudder::

Is what you wanted to be when you were little different than what you chose for yourself now?
Yes. I always figured I'd be married right after college, kids by 23-24. I always thought I'd have a side career as a dance instructor. I always thought I'd be a field researcher.

A broken back (more or less) eliminated the dance instruction. It took me 26 years (rather than 22) to find who I was supposed to marry. The more I see what kind of lives field researchers live and the sacrifices they have to make in terms of family life, the more I think I'll be wholly satisfied teaching part time at a university and spending the rest of my days home with my (future) babies. The last three years of my life have changed me quite a bit, opened my eyes to a lot of things. Any of these girls that say you're the same at 25 as you are at 20 - sorry honeys, but I'm living proof that that's a load of shite.

    Why chupacabras?
Because chupacabras are kick a*s. They suck blood out of goats and annilate entire cruise ships full of tourists and army commandos (YouTube clicky).

Ok, in all seriousness, it boils down to two things:

    a) I have an unhealthy love for cheesy-as-hell killer animal movies. I don't understand it, I just roll with it. And yes, I'll be watching Dinocroc vs. Supergator while I print programs tonight.

    b) I'm a scientist. We've got wierd senses of humor. There's a field of "science" called cryptozoology - the study of organisms yet to be discovered. In a whole, I do believe in cryptozoology in the sense that there are hundreds of new organisms discovered every year. So, to actively be searching for the existance of a new species of butterfly, or monkey...that's pretty reasonable in my book.

However, there is a faction of cryptozoology that focuses on the organisms that are less, let's just say, "factually based". These guys wholeheartedly believe in Nessy, Bigfoot, chupacabras, werewolves...you name any crazy mythological creature, I guarantee you there is a cryptozoologist out there who's entire career is based around trying to find the thing. For the most pot, these guys (and girls) tend to be crackpots, which us normal everyday scientists tend to find absofrigginlutely hilarious. They crack me the hell up. To the point where I am constantly joking that if I wasn't a marine biologist, I'd be a cryptozoologist. I want to tramp around in the woods all day looking for monkey men - sounds better than being elbow deep in fish guts and shark excrement, doesn't it? :)

I don't know why chuppies have become a sticking point with me...I just find them hilarious.

I'm pretty sure we unofficially voted and decided to do a different NEYer every day. The nice thing is, by the time we work our way around having to start repeating NEYers, there's always going to be new questions to ask. I imagine there's only so many fish plates you can post (the downfall of the registries posts).

Yeah, that's a toughie. I always give mine its own pot, and I try to keep it in a spot that it's getting part sun and part shade every day. The biggest thing is watering and pruning...you got to keep it hydrated and you have to make sure you're constantly pruning it, or it'll dry out and die in a heartbeat. Cilantro is one of those constant use plants - if you're not going to use it on a regular basis, it's not worth the work it takes to grow it.
