Wedding Invitations & Paper

Wording

Ok I know this sounds odd but my FI has some REALLY strange friends invited to the wedding and I love them to death they are the reason we meet. Any way can I say "Family Friendly Dress" on the invites. I don't want to explain to my 6 year niece or my 90 year old aunt why that guy has a beard and a dress on, or why that person has a color and leash.

Re: Wording

  • If your venue has an actual dress code, you can mention that.  Otherwise, no.  However, if you think they really won't care, you might mention it to them personally that you'll have a lot of relatives in attendance who won't understand some of their fashion choices.

If you think they might possibly, in any way, be offended by such a comment - then you need to decide who is more imporant to not offend.

Oh - and if they're your FI's friends, I'd let HIM have the conversation.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
