Retro Cakes, cupcakes... mini cupcakes... HELP!

Now in the stages of looking at cakes... we still have 7 months to go but I want to get as much out of the way as possible now!

We ahve been looking at Retro Cakes, maybe having cupcakes and a cake topper... has anyone else done this.. they wewre talking about a foam cupcake rack?! Also they have mini-cupcakes... just not sure which way to go really... any opinions/experience would be appreciated :)

we are going with Retro Bakery for our cake (6in round cake) with a topper and mini cupcakes. Im not doing a "tree" though...more like what Rach(moderator) did at Maggianos. We are prolly going to go with vanilla loves vanilla for our cake and VLV, Chocolate Fountain & Puker Up (Im dying to try this one) for our mini cupcakes...but I may add on a few more flavors. When I spoke with Kari the 6in round cakes start at $20..thats for basic designs..swirls, dots & such and $30-40 for more detailed. Mini Cupcakes are $12/dozen and you can get 2 flavors per dozen. She also said to plan for 2-3 mini cupcakes per guests since they may wanna try multiple flavors and since they are mini. Im budgeting for 2 per guests...plus our cake feeds like 7(?). so even if we get 60 people(our max)...total will be $140 plus $20 delivery.

I was planning on doing a cupcake tower with a 6" vanilla loves vanilla cake topper. I was thinking just regular cupcakes. But junebug has just made me really want mini cupcakes, because it would be awesome to really share the Retro Bakery LOVE with my guests, and let them try multiple flavors.

Off to talk the FI into this idea... :)

Now I am intrigued... what did Rach do at Maggiano's?? A foam tree doesn't sound particularly sturdy to me!

I am loving that with the mini cupcakes you can get lots of flavours! We are eating at Maggiano's, so there'll be lanty of food, I think mini cupcakes might appeal to people even after their meals, rather than a massive piece of cake

thanks for that info!  i emailed retro bakery, but they said it was a little too early for them to take my order - since all i want is cupcakes (no special flavors, colors or designs).  i was try to figure out how many mini-cupcakes i was going to order, and now i know :)

this was a pic from her bio...you can get it by going to the top of the threads to "new to the vegas board" she has the welcome post, under her (amazing) picture is a link "I got married, and stuff", its in there.

I want something similar..with our cake in the center and the mini cupcakes around.

mmmm! They look great! I think I too may well go with this option! I am loving the heart toppers!

Just have to set it all up quickly when we get there.

June-bug you have not only made me hungry looking at the cakes but have also swayed me! See what FI thinks, but I know he'll love this idea! Thanks :)

I'm going with Retro Bakery, but I am not doing cupcakes anymore I am going to have a cake. It turned out to be cheaper to do a cake for 75-100 people.  I am going to let FI pick the cake flavors. This wedding has gotten bigger then I expected
