I'm getting married in 3 weeks but I wanted to post this now because it's not really about the actual wedding day just crappy things I don't like and want to warn other brides in the area about. I'll post a full vendor review of the day of later.
We booked Lakeview because we didn't want our guests to travel much (most of FI's family is from MI where we are now) and at the time we booked there really wasn't anything in Greensburg that gave us what we wanted for what we felt to be a reasonable price for what was offered. FI didn't want a firehall wedding and some of the other places we went too were more worn than Lakeview and more expensive.
A few things about Lakeview that will make this post make more sense. Their package prices include an open bar, they offer buffets or sit down options, and they let you bring in your own cookies and cake.
First, they do not have vendor meals. They let you choose one of your two meal options (if you're having sit down) for your vendors and don't offer a discount on those even though the vendors aren't going to drink alcohol. (Well, at least I hope they don't)
Second, they do not give you a discount on those under 21. They do offer a child's meal but that is only for those under 10 years of age. When I asked why they said because their costs are spread out over all the meals and the discount is included that way. Didn't make sense at all.
Third, they do not allow you to bring in outside linens of any kind. They charge $5 for a chair cover and $3 for a half chair cover. They claim this is because they order the linens specifically for your event. I'm not sure if this is pretty common but I found it outrageous since I can BUY them myself for around $2 a cover for a full cover. I also wanted to bring in colored table overlays just for accents and wouldn't allow me to do that.
Fourth, they only give you 5 hours. Period. You have to be out after that 5 hours is up unless you close the bar. But for every hour you close the bar it's an extra $2 a person! They make you pay for not having something which is ridiculous to me.
If it wasn't so close to my wedding I'd be out of there. I didn't think to ask a lot of these questions at the time of signing the contract. Now I wish we'd gone with something a bit more expensive that might have worked with us better. I don't want other brides to get into this situation so thought I'd post.
