Testing?

So, I remember hearing that MS is one of the states that makes you get STD, specifically syphilis, testing before you get your marriage license. Is this still the case? In which case, anyone that's done it, do we have to get it done at the health department? I guess I'm wondering, since we live out of state right now, can we get it done by a private GP here and give them the results? Also, if it has to be done there, how far in advance would you do it so you didn't have the giant "I gave blood" bruise on your arm?

I don't have a problem with STD testing, but I'm extremely phobic of hypodermic needles, so I can't imagine it's something I would want to get done at the health department right before the wedding.

The blood test is still a requirement in MS. Here is a link that gives a good summary of the information.

Yep! You still have to get it, unfortunately. I just went to my GP (H and I went at the same time actually) and got the blood drawn. We have BCBS insurance and we get a free "Healthy You" physical each year - if you get something similar, I bet they can use that same blood for your physical and your Syph screening so you don't have to have two blood draws. Just a thought.

ETA: OH! and I think you have a full month to get it before the wedding. You just have to have it for your license. Which I think you can get a month before....that link up there should help
