table decorations with state facts

Hey! I'm helping my dad decorate the tables at the reception and he wants to put frames with fun facts about the two states that him and the bride are from. He wants to put a map on the card that connects the two cities (similar to the map from Sleepless in Seattle). I have that with a fact about each state but am struggling to make it look cute and not so factual. Any ideas??

    This honestly makes me think of a middle school history project. Instead of doing fact cards, could you maybe more subtly work their respective homestates into the reception?

    I've seen, for example, leaves used as escort cards. Maybe you could use the leaf of one of their state trees.

    Or, perhaps for favors you could use a candy or other food that hails from one of their homes.
