Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

St. Paul outdoor barbeque spots?

Sorry about all the questions today!  Even though my wedding isn't until next summer, I'm trying to get everything possible finalized by August when I start law school.  So here goes one more.

Our wedding is on Saturday, but our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner are on Thursday because our venue also does Friday weddings.  My parents just let me know that they would like to host an informal get-together on Friday evening for anyone invited to the wedding that wants to come.

Any suggestions on parks in St. Paul that we could use for a barbeque gathering?  If it was a reserve-able space, that would be even better.

And this might be a stupid question, but can you drink beer/wine at a park?

Mounds Park has grilling space, I'm not sure if you have to reserve it though :-) One of my friends had a BBQ get together for her birthday there.

Minnehaha Falls has outdoor spots too, those for sure you have to reserve. I think you can have alcohol at a park.

I always loved going to Minnehaha when I lived in St Paul :-)

The answer to this? Not really. Sometimes, if you have a permit to rent a certain part of a park, there might be exceptions... but generally you can't consume alcohol (with the exception of 3.2 beer... somehow that's A-OK) in a public park. City or county park rules can vary in strictness, but MN state parks pretty much outright ban alcohol entirely. This is why I always go to WI when I go camping ;-)

Como Park has several smaller pavillions that you can rent...as well as two big bonfire circles next to picnic grounds (on the west side of the park) that are free and first come, first serve...if you wanted a free option that just required a good friend who was willing to be your space saver!

    Good luck!

Oooh! If you go w/Minehaha, the Sea Salt restaurant is right there. I think you can rent out the other part of the building that the restaurant is in, and I know they serve beer and wine at the restaurant. I'm not sure if that really answers your question, but I LOVE Sea Salt!
