Invite Wording for Divorced Parents

Anyone know the best way to word invites if your parents are divorced? My parents haven't been together for a long time, and I am having a hard time figuring out how to word the invites so they sound appropriate. Neither of them are remarried, so they both still have the same name. Any suggestions?

Re: Invite Wording for Divorced Parents

  • You would just say

    Ms. Jane Smith
    Mr. John Smith
request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter

    Your Name
    to
    Groom's Name
    son of
    ....etc.

Divorced names go on separate lines and are not joined by "and".

If you do not like how this looks, you can also go with...

    Together with their families
    Your Name
    and
    Groom's Name
request the pleasure of your company
    etc.

  • I wrote it as "Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jane Smith request the honour of your presence..." The PP is probably right that they should technically be on separate lines, but it looked fine to me and neither parent objected.
  • What do you do if both your parents are remaried? And both paying.  Also I don't have the same last name as my mother?
