Engagement Party

Hi everyone,
We got engaged on December 21 and planning to have a wedding in May 2014. We haven't finalized anything yet.. It seems a little far away and we both agreed it would be nice to have an engagement party. The question is do we organize it ourselves? No one has come forward to offer it yet..

    If no one has offered, I do not see an issue with you all planning it yourself. If its in the budget, do it.

    We set up a brunch with our immediate families so everyone can get to know eachother a little better. We invited everyone over the phone and explained we didn't want gifts, just a chance to all be in the same room and hang out. It was pretty cheap too. We used that opportunity to announce our date so thefamily knew before anyone else. Engagement parties don't always have to be thrown for you. Congrats and good luck :
