Private Residence Rental?!!

Hi! Has anyone had any experience with a private residence rental as your wedding location? We would like to have a backyard style wedding and bring in our own caterers, bartenders, etc. Wedding size should be around 100 people (maybe more, maybe less!). Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Thank you! :)

My FI and I were going to go this route but had a lot of trouble finding rental homes that had a large enough backyard and that would allow weddings that size to take place (we have about 100 people coming).  The ones we did  find wanted us to also rent the house for 3-7 days in addition to large cleaning and deposit fees.  We found it more cost effective to go with a venue that let us bring in our own vendors.  However, if you are able to find a place for the price you want to pay, the convenience is priceless!

I'm not sure the reason why you want to rent a residential home, but if it is because you want something cozy and homey, I really like the Antique Wedding House in Mesa.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm discovering that our ideal setting might be harder than we imagined to achieve...

We were thinking of doing this. We did find some homes we could rent for a weekend, but our guest list is under 70 people.

<div>I thought so, too. We even emailed the owners to see if we could visit the place, but unfortunately he said they aren't doing ANY weddings in 2013. I'm crushed, actually. I've searched all over the internet to try to find a place like that to rent for a wedding, but so far no luck. It's starting to look like it can't be done, at least not for a guest lits of around 100 people. </div>
