Venue that allows outside caterers...

OK - I'm freaking out a bit. I am having a really hard time finding a DFW venue that will allow outisde caterers AND alcohol. (My church is a no-go on the alocohol) Our budget it TIGHT - absolute top is $1000 for the venue and we are expecting 75-100 guests. Any suggestions?

I would prefer to have the ceremony and reception in the same venue - but that is negotiable.

I don't know 100% their policy on food & drinks, but here are the ones I've heard of that are really affordable...

Science Resource Center at the Heard Museum in McKinney. Rental fees are $700 for half-day on Saturday. Here's the link to the rest of the options/fees: http://www.heardmuseum.org/attractions/rental-science.asp
    Village Country Club in Dallas
    Colleyville Center

(If you put any of the names of these places in the Search Boards box and click Go next to Current Board, you'll see these names mentioned in other threads by people that actually looked into them, so you might find more info about them including their rental fees).

Heard Museum is more than $1,000.

The only one I can think of is Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake.

The Village Country Club will not allow outside caterers, you use their restaurant. There is no rental fee, though.

I am in the same boat as you. I am looking for a venue around 1000-2000 to allow outside catering...I have search the internet and only found Winfrey Point, Special Moment and Spring Park Center. Haven't seen anyone of them yet...

The Atrium in Garland is $1700 Fri-Sun or $900 Mon-Thurs - at least it was when I booked last summer. We loved our experience there.

Oops, looks like I meant specifically just the Science Resource Center in the Heard Museum. Edited my post.

Winfrey Point and the Filter Building both allow outside catering, but they are completely DIY venues.

You might also look into community centers -- you can do a lot with those!

They also mean that you will be getting married outside by White Rock lake.  Which is lovely, but I don't know what time of year you are planning for.  Also the Filter Building is over the OP's budget.  $2700 for a Saturday in 2012.

We might want to add this to our vendor sticky since it's a popular one.

Winfrey Point requires deposit and you also have to pay for a permit to serve alcohol. I think the permit is only liek $50 but I don't remember the deposit. They charge $150 per hour to rent the space but you have to set everything up, take everything down and clean (mopping the floors, etc.).

They have no rental fee and their minimum is pretty low (at least IMO).  You can get married outside and have your reception inside.

The Colleyville Community Center I believe is $800 and allows you to bring everything in. Definitely call them to get more details!
