Stroudsmoor Inn - Ridgecrest

Hello,

I visited Stroudsmoor Inn and absolutely loved the Ridgecrest ceremony site.  When we looked at the reception site it was set up for about 200 people.  I would be having somewhere between 200 - 250 people.  It looked full when it was set up for 200 so I'm worried that it would be too crowded and cramped with more than 200.  Has anyone been to/had a wedding there that could tell me if going to the max capacity there is too crowded?  I really liked the Terraview reception part but didnt love the ceremony site as much as Ridgecrest.

Any advice/input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You should ask the coordinator at the venue.  They would know best and be able to tell you a maximum capacity.

They may even be able to give suggestions for accommodating your guests best.

The coordinator said the max was 250 but it just didn't look like it could hold much more than was already there.  I think we decided on Terraview due to the size of our wedding.

MS0710 - are you having your guests stay at the Stroudsmoor?  The only other hotel options I saw in the area were a Budget Inn and a Hampton Inn.  I'm not too familiar with the area.  Are there any other major hotels in that area?

Most of our family live with 30 minutes of the Stroudsmoor so a lot them are going home. We are staying on premise and so are some friends. Others plan on staying at the Hampton Inn. There aren't too many options up there...

Terraview is a WONDERFUL choice! It is so beautiful! We would have done that but we decided to keep it under 200 and Ridgecrest was better for us. When is the date?

Most of my guests will be coming from central NJ (its an hour and a half from my parents' house) so driving home won't be an option for most.  Others will be coming from NYC, Long Island, and his mother's side of the family all live in the Philly area.

I think we are going with October 13, 2012.  I wanted Oct. 6 which is available but they said that the guests would be required to book 2 nights since its a holiday weekend.  That wouldn't be a problem for the bridal party but I don't want to force that onto other guests who would rather stay on site than to another hotel.

We are going to suggest staying on site but I wanted to give another option if there aren't enough rooms to accomodate everyone.

Unfortunately, those are the only other options that I know of.

Good luck with the planning and congrats! Great choice by going with the Stroudsmoor - they have been so helpful to us so far and everyone I know who has gotten married there loved every moment.

I am booked a the Stroudsmoor and have people staying there... but if I could go back and do it again, I'd either stay at the Hampton in town or a place in Tannersville and hire a trolly/bus to transport us and our guests to save the headache of booking rooms at the Stroudsmoor.

You will have the option of making a block of rooms, but they will be first come first serve to those who call if they take care of it (which means if your parents don't call first, they may not get the room they like), or you can take care of it which is what we did and it was a nightmare. The rooms are not your traditional rooms with two double beds or 1 king bed. There are some with 1 double bed, 1 queen bed, some with sleeper sofa's, etc. It makes it tough to book for other people. This is nice if you were a guest coming for the actual bed and breakfast and not for a wedding where you're looking to spend no more than $100 for the night and get home the next day.

You also are responsible for signing a contract that says you are responsible if any of your guests in your block of rooms has any damages or guests who book a room and then back out.

Save your sanity and book a block at a standard hotel.

I'm having my wedding in November at the Stroudsmoor and live in the area. There's a new hotel opening up this month - the Staybridge Suites (right off exit 309 on Rt. 80). There are 2 Budget Inns - I was told the Budget Inn and Suites was good and the Budget Host Hotel was not great.

I've also heard bad things about the Pocono Inn Towne - I believe the phrase was "ok place to stay unless you want clean towels." They'll be starting massive renovations in the next few months so it might be better by October 2013.

    Hi :)

I got married up there and I live about an hour away in NJ...I LOVED my wedding day and I must have had 90% of the guests come tell me it was the best wedding they have ever been to. I have to tell you that there were 2 girls in my wedding party that saw how nice the Ledgemere/Ledgemere Suite rooms were and wished they booked a room there. They are sort of pricey but they are really nice. Also I had my parents and in-laws as well as my brother and his girlfriend stay at this one "Cabin on the Common" which looks out onto that little mini house/larger front lawn and it has a nice porch and they really loved staying there. The rooms closer to the spa were too close to other peoples weddings for my liking. All my guests and family that stayed at the Stroudsmoor wanted to come back again. Especially after the all you can eat breakfast. Plus your guests could come early and play golf or go rafting or just go into the Irish Pub in town if your wedding is in the later part of the day. The breakfast in the morning is all you can eat and the staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I loved working with Amy...Susan and Colleen. Colleen is the one to work with for the rooms she is AWESOME. I also got my hair and make up done there and it came out really well. If anyone else wants to get hair....nails or massage done I would book it well in advance because as you get closer all the things (rooms & appointments) tend to book up. Overall I think the Stroudsmoor is really a great place and a great group of people who really want to help make your dream wedding happen for you. I saw numerous examples of them going out of their way to make not just my family but several of my guests (and then later guests of other wedding parties) feel cared about.

I wish you all the best on your wedding day and your brand new life as a "Mrs." I don't go on here much since I got married a while ago. But I wanted to check out someones pictures from another wedding so here I am! Feel free to e-mail me at tara.scranton@gmail.com if you had any questions from someone that got married at the Stroudsmoor.

    Best wishes
