Our rabbi said yes!

Great news- our rabbi offered to marry us (which is a big deal since we're a same sex couple and my fiancee isn't Jewish)! We booked the date and everything today and it works for him- 3/6/11. It's also 30 Adar I, and since it goes past sunset, we'll be celebrating Rosh Chodesh of Adar II for our wedding! I'm super excited and just wanted to share the good news

Mazel tov! Interestingly, it was much harder to find a rabbi willing to perform and interfaith ceremony than to find one willing to perform a same-sex marriage. However, I'm glad you have both parts worked out.

I htink it helped that she has made an effort to learn more about Judaism and really join our Temple community- she's taken classes, comes to services, etc. She's not another religion (100% secular) so that probably helps, too.
