Intercontinental Reception??

Hello everyone

Getting married in Sept 2011 and trying to book a reception venue. I really like the Intercontinental Stephen F Austin but it is very expensive. I have spent the last 2-3 weeks looking into other less-expensive downtown venues. The minimum amnt the Intercontinental will do a reception for is 10,000. We are going to have about 100-125 guests. Anyone have any suggestions for a downtown Austin venue that would be less costly?

I looked at the Parish (music venue on 6th street) a couple of days ago. Really liked the place and they would work with a budget of 8,000. The only problem is that its on the crazy part of 6th street (lots of bums and drunks!)

Any suggestions welcome!

Check out The Palm Door. It is over by the Hilton Downtown and is a really neat space. When I looked into it it was $2500 I believe and they use Pink Avocado for their caterering and they are great (you can also bring in a different caterer for a fee).

If you're wanting a hotel venue, check out the Hilton Garden Inn downtown. When I checked into them, their minimum was $5K.
