Asking BMs & GMs

My fiance and I are getting ready to start asking the MOH/BMs and the BM/GMs to be in our wedding. I was thinking of maybe taking them out to dinner to ask them, just to make it a little more special than say a quick "Hey will you be in our wedding?" text or something . I was just wondering, are there any formalities that go along with asking? Like a small gift or a card, perhaps? Or is it just a simple question? How did you all go about asking your wedding party?

I mailed them all handmade bridesmaids cards. Once they all receive them and all accept then I will probably take them out to lunch and then out shopping for dresses to get an idea of what they like.\

I had special fortune cookies made with "Will you be my Bridesmaid"? messages on the inside. I arranged a dinner for my girls at PF Chang's and, at the end of dinner, I had the waiter deliever the fortune cookies to everyone. The all were super psyched after reading their fortunes! The lady who made the forutne cookies is in Houston near the Galleria area.

Just a piece of advice: wait until you're a little closer to the wedding. A year out is pretty early to be asking your wedding party. Relationships can change a lot in that amount of time.

IT's a cute gesture. My only concern would be with them all together they would all feel obligated to say yes.

To be honest they were harder than I imagined lol but still totally doable. It took about 7 hours to do all 7 cards, the accompanying poems, and to tie them with a ribbon. If you're interested I can send you a link to pictures of the dolls and the different poems they received (everyone received a customized poem) My girls just received them today and they all loved them. One was even Geary. Definitely worth the time!
