Fun reception ideas central WI

Hi! I am looking for fun places in central WI for a reception. We are looking in the Wisconsin Rapids/Stevens Point area, and would like somewhere a little different, but need to get something nailed down soon for next June. We could do a hotel or golf course (and probably will) but I didn't know if there were any other venues that would be a little unique/different. Thanks so much for your help!

The dells might have some cool places...

Are there any ski resorts nearby?  The ski hill near Madison lets you have the ceremony on top of the hill (guests ride the chairlift to the top).  That sounds pretty fun to me :)

You should see if you can rent space at a university, like UWSP.  I bet they have some neat spaces like the art center or their museum.  There is a building that a friend of mine had their graduation party in on the river front in Stevens Point.  It was all brick inside, had a vintage feel.  A golf course or country club.  My cousin is having his wedding at the Grand Theater in Wausau. I think a school gym might be fun, like prom for adults.

Maybe she would be willing to give you a few ideas?

Willow Springs is an awesome place to get married and I have planned two weddings there but you defininitly need someone to decorate for you because they don't set anything up until the day of your wedding.

Hello!  I'm the photographer lizm336 mentioned in the post above.

The building mentioned on the river in Stevens Point is the Pfiffner building at Pfiffner Park.  The last 4 photos in this blog post of mine show a wedding and reception that took place there:  http://www.lifeisartphoto.com/blog/2008/stevens-point-wedding-photography-chris-erin/

Another neat place is the Yawkey House in Wausau.  This couple had photos taken at it, and then had their reception at the Jefferson Street Inn (downtown Wausau - also very nice!)  - http://www.lifeisartphoto.com/blog/2008/wausau-wedding-photography-mike-cindy/ I also photographed a wedding ceremony in the gardens of the Yawkey House, but it's not on my blog yet.  So if you'd like to see that let me know!

If you're looking for a really unique place that there are not many weddings at, some clients of mine own an old silver fox ranch.  It was an amazing place in its day - like in the 1920's the fur coats from the family's foxes would bring in $20,000 per coat.  It is very vintage - there is a log clubhouse that has an original bowling alley where you still have to setup pins by hand, and a large boarding house that can even house wedding guests.  Their website is here  - http://www.foxtale.org/tours.html

The Grand Theater is nice....and you can also have your wedding on top of the Rib Mountain ski hill.  I don't know if they let guests ride the chair lift to the top, but you can drive up there too.

Feel free to email or call me if you want more information!  My contact info is on my website at www.lifeisartphoto.com :)  Good luck, and let us know what you decide!
