Falmouth Wedding advice??

Hello!
We got engaged this Christmas rather quickly are planning a wedding in Falmouth for this August or September. Live in NYC so planning from a distance, but having vacationed in Falmouth growing up, I had a good list of ideas to get me started would love any all thoughts / reviews on vendors/venues:

Rehearsal Dinner Casino Wharf or Falmouth Yacht Club?
Flying Bridge reception?
Flowers by Allens House of Flowers? Cannot find any reviews for this vendor, which makes me weary!
Cake by Casual Gourmet?
Any recommendations for DJ/videographer?
Any recommendations for day of salon?

Thank you best of luck to everyone!!

Re: Falmouth Wedding advice??

  • Hi -

Just a few things to know that I learned in my own (relatively quick) planning:
    - Thee Falmouth Yacht Club doesn't allow private events (including rehearsal dinners) from mid-June through Labor Day. Casino Wharf could work - but they might have a very high site fee so you might want to check on that before booking.
    - I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but I'd start googling DJs soon because a lot of them were already booked for August when we emailed around in November! We went with a CapeTunes DJ.
    - Flying Bridge reception could be great if you're looking for something casual but right on the water. I think there's a lot of flexibility in food options/pricing too.

    Good luck!

  • We got married at the Flying Bridge in 2011 and could not have been happier with them and the way our wedding turned out. Very cape cod casual but still elegant. It was important to us to have a fun, non-hoity-toity wedding and that is exactly what we got there. Food was incredible yet very reasonably priced. And Tyler was super easy to work with.

Loved our cake from casual gourmet. It was so delicious. We had minimal contact with them, but it was very easy working with them. And since they are the Flying Bridge's preferred vendor, we ended up knixing the dessert from our menu and only doing wedding cake, and the FB credited us $2/pp since the casual gourmet bills directly to FB instead of giving you a seperate bill.

I second what PP said about DJ. DJs book very quickly on the cape! We used Scott Rosenthal with Cape Tunes and LOVED HIM. I think he was by far my favorite vendor I dealt with. He listened to everything I said and totally kept the party going all night long. The dance floor was packed all night, which I told him was very important to me.

Hope this helps! Good luck with the rest of your planning :)
  • I called so many flower places when I was looking! I ended up going with Laurence Gardens on Main st in Falmouth. They were the most attentive and most reasonable. Some of the other places never even sent me my quote! I was not a fan of Allen's after speaking of them, but you might get a different response from them.

Also, for salon's I visited a few and ended up liking South Cape Village in Mashpee the best. Not sure if want to travel to Mashpee on your wedding day if everything else is in Falmouth though.
  • I live in Falmouth and I had my engagement photography done by Rebecca at Flasher Photography. She was awesome and I would definitely recommend her for a wedding!
  • Good luck with planning!  Here are some suggestions:

Florist -- I would suggest Flowers by Anna.
Cake -- Scratch Cake (Tammy Feldott -- amazing)
DJ -- Cape Tunes is great.  Scott is a gem, we will have Sean work our wedding and he's been so helpful
Salon -- contact Maureen (maureen@magicwandartistry.net)  lovely woman for make-up and the salon she works out of does hair, it's in Mashpee.

I'm also planning from overseas but these people have been so accomodating and helpful, it's been a pleasure working with each and everyone of them.
