Vendor Reviews

My daughter got married this past Saturday Sept. 4th and I wanted to post some vendor reviews. She was married West Ashley at St. Andrews Methodist Church and the reception was held at the  Poplar Grove Boat House. We were happy with all of our vendors. There were some snafu's but nothing major and everything turned out great and a good time was had by all.

Catering A+ -- Chef Carl Calvert and his students from Stratford High School. The food was wonderful received many compliments. The students did a great job and the cost was about a third of what other caterers charge.

DOC A+-- Rory Metz of Jubilation and her assistant Alisha did an awesome job and kept everyone on schedule.  http://www.jubilationsc.com/

Photography so far A+-- Lori Lee Photographythe pictures and slide show that she has posted already are wonderful. She has posted these on her facebook account that you can reach from her blog site. http://www.lorilee-photography.com

Florist A+-- Fredericks Weddings ... Lily did a great job with the bridal party flowers and the altar arrangements. She was very reasonable on price and very friendly to work with.  http://www.fredericksweddings.com/

Reception Flowers A+ --DIY I ordered flowers from  Costco locally through Carol Tucak she is the Floral Wholesaler and she was able to get me what I needed at a great price. She also ordered in the flowers that I arranged and had down the aisle at the church. flowergal360@yahoo.com

Hair & makeup A+-- Paloosh Salon They did a great job on the entire bridal party. We all loved our hair. Everyone looked beautiful and the time frame worked out great.

Alterations A+-- Just a Tuck Martha Hughes Martha did a wonderful job as always and was very quick on turn around on the brides dress.  769-5324 marthahughes@comcast.net

Rentals A+-- Group Dynamics --Jaime was great to work with and everything looked great for the reception. http://www.groupdynamics.biz/

Little Black Cab B--Service was good. Driver was about 10 min. late arriving to the church after ceremony to pick up the bride and groom. Price was reasonable. http://www.charlestonblackcabcompany.com/

Poplar Grove Boat House B-- Cost was reasonable and we could bring in our own caterer and stock our own bar. I rated this a B because of lack of support from Spectrum Properties when issues did arise. It is a beautiful place with wrap around porches and it is on the water. It has a covered dock with beautiful views of Rantowles creek. There were some issues with the code not working for guest to get in the gate but it all turned out fine in the end. There were some parking issues that could have been handled better. The porches have white rockers and inside is leather furniture and tables that we were able to rearrange for our set up. It was a beautiful place and because of the furniture that was already there we were able to save on rentals. We had about 175 guests for a cocktail reception with plenty of room for dancing. http://www.poplargrovecharleston.com/

DJ A+--Doug Sekelik Party All The Time-- Doug was great and the dance floor was packed all night. He has a great setup on his website for your guest to request music before the wedding. I would highly recommend him. http://www.partyallthetimedj.com/

Ceremony Musicians A --Charleston Flutist-- We had a trio with flute, cello, and guitar. The music was beautiful. http://www.charlestonflutist.com/

Wedding Cake A+ -- Rona Jenkins-- works from her home-- She makes a true old fashion pound cake and it was delicious. She made my wedding cake when my husband and I got married. She charges around 2.00 a serving. 553-3974

Grooms Cake A+-- Lisa Sargent of Let There be Cake-- She did an outstanding job on the grooms cake. It looked like a tray of sushi and someone took a piece off of the cake thinking it was sushi. http://www.lettherebecake.net/
