  • -Other bills if they're in your name (cell phone?)
-All your online accounts - especially if you have a new email address
    -Catalog/magazine subscriptions
-Alma Maters or other organizations you're a part of
-Church stuff - if they have an online system, you can do it yourself, otherwise they can do it for you, but they can link yours and H's accounts together so you only get one newsletter, track your giving as one, etc.

  • Utilities
Any legal documents (wills, deeds, DNR, etc)
I would probably also send a note to your pediatrician, any schools, day care, etc that have your contact info for Carter.

For the IRS you won't need anythingbecause your W-2 will have your new name on it at the end of the year. Besides the  things listed above I also changed it at the beauty salon or anywhere Imake appointments.

As long as you update your name with the SSA, the IRS will have the correct information.
  • thanks for clarifying the IRS, I was wondering what to do with that.

You're welcome.  I found that list online and saved it.
I don't know if you technically are allowed to but I am going to wait as well.  I don't plan on using my passport soon so I'm just holding off on it.

Did you just get your passport?  If yes, then change it right away - it is free if w/in a year of getting the passport.  After that you have to pay for a new one & as many of us know - they are expensive now...

    My Ovulation Chart
    || Ovulation Calendar

    Me 42, DH 34 - TTC #1 since June 2012.
9/12 3-day testing: TSH 3.76, T4 Free 1.1, LH 6.1, FSH 7.4, Prolactin 9.0, Estradiol 56. 12/12 HSG done & my tubes are clear!! 1/22/13 3-day testing: TSH 6.2, FSH 7.7, AMH 0.86, Estradiol 54, Prolactin 10.5. Thyroid almost doubled (hmmm), started Synthroid 2/4/13 and also 15,000 of Vit D 1/wk. 2/26/13 RE says I am in great shape, but DH has MFI - extremly low count along with morphology & motility issues. RE said IUI would be a waste, that IVF with ICSI is what he thinks we should do. Insurance does not cover IVF.... :(

I actually got mine in 2007... so I am thinking it actually expires in a few months. They are good for 5 years right?

Also- I talked to the DMV and they said there was no reason to change my name on my title... they said if/when I ever sell my car that I just sign my old last name on the title once its sold. WOO HOO! One less thing to worry about!

Passports actually last for 10 years, so if you plan on flying anywhere before 2017, you'll need to change it.  Mine expires in 2014, so I can't decide whether it's worth my money to update it.  I probably will though, since we want to travel again before TTC.

Good to know! Thank you! I think I will wait to see if any plans come up for international travel before I pay to update it. :)

I know this might sound crazy but I feel that you should update your passport, you never know and it would suck to have a passport that doesn't have the right name if a sudden opportunity for a trip comes up (or a sudden need to leave the country, lol)

  • You need to first start out with the name change petition...follow the wikihow name change guide. I have used name change packages before as a great wedding gift.
  • The first step is to legally change your name at the court level. Follow the instructions at www.howtochangeyourname.com
