PIP wedding dresses

PIP the dress you thought you'd buy, and the one you actually did! Inspired by my realization that these two dresses are completely different for me.

Before I tried it on, I thought I was going to love this dress:

It turned out this style looked much better on my body and I ordered this one last weekend:

Almost bought the following at various times:

  • Thought I was going to get something like this:

And I ended up with this:

  • I thought I would wear this or another J Crew dress:

Instead, I got this Vineyard one:

  • Fully intended on buying this one:

    And bought this one instead:

  • This is the Demetrios dress i loved at the beginning. The top was obviously just pinned to look like a sweetheart because i wanted to adjust it.

This is the dress everybody wanted me to get. I cried because i hated it and thought it was boring haha. MS Vienna. I know it was flattering, it just wasn't MY dress.

My dress. It was just so much fun to walk in and so light and...different. Perfect for a garden wedding. I tried it on and my mom, steve's mom, and a bm all started crying.

close up of detail...it's almost yellow with white lace on top.

don't be offended. just smile! daff famously hates strapless gowns and there are a ton of strapless dresses in this thread. it's just one opinion! and she's very consistent with it. she isn't picking on any one person.

I'm assuming this thread refers to dresses that were actually in the realistic realm of buying (not just fantasizing about), so I'll include my two from DB. I have like a hundred designer ones I would have loved to try on and buy, but it was out of my budget.

Here's the dress I thought would be the one but didn't like it once I tried it on:

And here's the one I ended up getting (front, then back):

  • I had one day to try on dresses, and the two I ended up liking the most were both Jasmine.  The one I almost got:

And of course, the one I did:

  • I thought I would end up with this Watters dress (or at least a dress with thick straps and a short train):

But I tried this dress on and loved it:

I have never liked wearing strapless dresses because I have a smaller chest and therefore, not much to hold anything up. But the strapless dresses looked best on me (and because of the boning in the waist, I had no trouble holding them up), so I went with that.

Well, the one I ended up buying was on my list of dresses to try on when I went to the store, but I didn't think it would be the front runner. Ended up looking fabulous, though!

    Dresses I though I'd buy:

    The one I bought:

The major difference is that while the others looked good, the empire waist on the last one really made the dress on me. What's weird is that I don't like strapless, NEVER wanted a strapless wedding gown in my life, and even if I bought strapless, fully intended on doing wide straps or cap sleeves. But now I'm considering just going strapless. We'll see.

  • Well, I actually ordered this (but would have been in my size and length, obviously):

But due to error in communication between the crazydresslady store owner and the company, it didn't make it to me.

I ended up with this original 1950's gown. Oh-so-amazing!

Can we say, 'twenty million times better?'

This is the dress I drove 2 1/2 hours to try on.

And the one I ended up buying.I did try on others but I knew this was the one.

  • If I were to insert all of the dresses I "almost" bought, I'd crash the Knot. But I was closest to getting this one (which looked hot on julez!):

And ended up getting this one (more PIB):

  • This is a fun thread.

I loved both of these but

    • this was too 'upscale' for our farm reception

    • and I this had too much train for anything but the ceremony

When I started twirling around in this one, I knew.

And then I had to have a dancing dress

  • Went out in search of this:

    Ended up in this:

  • Mutley, I love the 'dancing dress' (although I am perplexed by the two wedding dresses!) that you had. At what point during the event did you change?
  • Salt, that picture totally does not do your dress justice (and you sort of look like you're checking to make sure you don't smell or something! :P)! Did you upload the wrong one there?
