Well, I would make salsa with it. That's the main time I think to myself "gosh I really wish we had a food processor." I also make a pesto stuffed chicken breast where a food processor would work much better than a blender to make the pesto-y stuffing.

I'm not really sure what we'd make with a food processor. I just know that I often show things I want DH to cook and he tells me he can't because it requires a food processor.

Do you think he's lying and just doesn't want to cook those things for me?

Your friend did exactly what I would do. If I can't attend a wedding I'll still send a gift from the registry. However, if the bride told me that they didn't need anything and were expecting cash, I would not send anything. I don't feel like someone you invite is obligated to cut you a check because you sent them an invitiation. If the B&G don't want any gifts and the invitee isn't attending and therefore isn't costing the B&G anything, I feel that the invitee doesn't owe anything to the couple.
