How long should the song im walking down the aisle to be?

Im walking down a 75 ft aisle. Does anyone know approximately how long a song should be. I was thinking about a minute give or take 10 seconds or so. Were going out to the wedding site this weekend to try a few songs. I was just hoping you ladies might be able to give me a time estimate so i can narrow some song choices down. Thanks in advance!

  • Since you know the distance, measure it out and have someone time you. I would walk it a couple times and even have someone walk with you. Average the times at the end. Make sure you have someone other than yourself time you. You need to concentrate on your pace. The excitement of the day may increase your pace so walk it a couple times to get used to it. Slower is better so take your time. You want to make sure your photographer is able to get those great shots of you walking down the isle!
  • As a church musician, I can tell you that it's completely variable.  We have a rehearsal, and time out the music.  Invariably the day of the wedding, people wait longer at the top of the aisle. They walk faster than they did in rehearsal.  They walk slower than they did in rehearsal. The solution is to trust your musician/dj.  As the organist, I will time the music to end when the bride reaches the end of the music.  I will quickly find a way to gracefully bring the piece to an end.A dj will do the same thing.  he/she will watch the processional, and when you reach the end of the aisle, will fade out.So the advice I have is to pick the piece of music you like, and then trust your professional musicians to know what they're doing.

  • ITA with trix! Whoever is in charge of playing your music (either live or recorded) should be able to fade out at the proper time.
