Wedding Wednesday

Morning everyone! What have you gotten done lately? Anything good on the docket? Some of us have since hit the double digit count down!

Re: Wedding Wednesday

  • I felt like a wedding machine this past weekend. I made serious progress on our centerpieces this weekend and I feel like I finished the most time consuming part of them.

I had our cake consultation, which was really just a phone call with my sister to hash out the details of the cake. She sent me the inital sketch of the design last night, and I love it.

We FINALLY figured out groomsmens' gifts, and will be purchasing them this week.

I set up my hair and makeup trial yesterday as well. We have a fairly fancy wedding to attend at the end of April, so I figured that would be a good opportunity to schedule it.

I also made the templates for table numbers, bar signs, and the guestbook sign, and bought the paper to print them.

I went shopping with my mom and grandma on Sunday, found an outfit for my grandma to wear to the wedding, and my mom bought fabric to make squares for the centerpieces to sit on. She's a champ, she's making 25+ squares out of material that she hates to work with, but she said she didn't mind since I haven't asked her to do anything else wedding related.

I also filled in our guests' names and the __ of __ attending section of the RSVP cards (so if two people are invited, it says "John and Jane Smith, __ of 2 will be attending." Lastly, our envelopes were delivered yesterday.

Oh, I also divided my to-do list out by month, and then tried not to panic.

This weekend is centerpieces, centerpieces, centerpieces. I'm determined to have them done by April 1st. I also have to write out the formal addresses for my fiance's mom, since she offered to address the invitations for us, but I want to make sure I'm giving her everyone's address in the correct format, etiquette-wise.
  • Happy Wednesday everyone!  We finally ordered Fi and groomsmen's tuxes and I got the rest of the BM gifts.  I also finished writing our prayer of the faithful and decided on our readings as well as who is going to read what.  We got our invitation proofs and there are a few small changes we need to make.  I also got our "us at age" table numbers in the mail, they are so cute I love them!!  I made a mock up program and decided which materials I am going to use to make them as well as our placecards.

This week I have to order our favors and make a bowtie collar for our dog lol  Hopefully our invitation lady will get the revised proofs to us (she's a little slow to work with..ughh)  I'm also hoping to find a bachelorette party dress and a rehearsal dinner dress sometime soon!

Emily B- What did you decide on for groomsmen gifts?  We are pretty stumped in that department!

  • Awesome work Emily!

I've also been productive-ish. I sent FI a possible cake topper and reading last night that he hasn't given me a yay or nay to yet. We're figuring out the usher situation and I asked my mom if my brother would want to do it. I asked her because he PTSD from being overseas is bad and he doesn't handle crowds well and he really only talks to her about it. So hopefully he'll get back to me.

We picked out and put down deposits on tuxes. We're going with the Gray Calvin Klein from Men's Warehouse. FI and BM both got fitted.

My mom's florist friend showed me finished products of our BM bouquets, GM boutineers, and chair decorations she's making and they came out amazing. Next she's doing the decoration for our arch and our centerpieces, so that's exciting.

I finalized the flower girl dress decision with FI's cousin's whose daughters are our flower girls.

I know there is more, but I can't remember. I have my boudoir shoot on Monday so I'm going shopping for that on Sunday. Then Wednesday my mom and I are going to the bridal salon to find her a dress. And I'm going to try mine on and make a final decision about jewelry. And try to schedule my first alterations appointment.

Today on my lunch break I'm going to have an invitation weighed and buy all the needed postage. I plan to finish stuffing those tonight so they can go in the mail next week!

The last big things we have to do are figure out our ceremony with his cousin who is officiating, pick out and buy wedding rings, and make final vendor meetings. Otherwise it's just details at this point.

  • I booked a DOC. I didn't think anyone would still be available for a Saturday in June, but I found one! I also just ordered outer envelopes and a few other little things from C&P. I noticed the ink was rubbing off on the cards within the pocketfold on the sample one I did, so I ordered invitation tissue. Bah...

Also, we're going to Montreal this weekend! FI's visa interview is on Monday. I was supposed to plan an itinerary for the rest of our trip there. I guess that's what I'll be doing tonight. Oops.

  • Lexi: My fiance has decided to treat his groomsmen to a baseball game as a gift. They're all very much into sports and love going to baseball games. We nixed the traditional gifts, because they've all  been in several weddings already, and none of them needs another monogrammed flask. Traditional, no, but his guys will love it.

    And thanks, cnf!!

  • I should be getting my possible shoes today, and my cake serving set should be in on Friday. We'll be picking up/ordering stamps sometime soon so we can get the invitations out.
  • This past weekend we made a spreadsheet of what we owe for everything, when stuff is due, important dates, etc. We bought programs (we are printing them ourselves) and got our cake topper.
Right now I'm trying to work on a day-of wedding timeline and it is stressing me out. Too mahy little details and not sure where to start. :X
This coming weekend I'm meeting with my fiance and his mother to work on centerpieces. :)
107 days until the big day. It is coming very quickly! I'm ready to be done planning and to just have it be day of already! :D

  • I ordered our invitations this past weekend! So excited to finally have that to-do completed. The proof looked great and I approved it to be printed. They should be here in about 2 weeks.

Next week we'll be sending in our contract and deposit for the rabbi. After that the only things left to take care of are the cake order, and then linens, programs, table numbers and escort cards... all which can wait until we have our responses back so we have a better idea of our confirmed guest list.

Spoke to my aunt out in Pittsburgh on Sunday. She's helping with the favors... we're having our Italian cookies shipped out (it's a tradition in our family, we MUST have cookies!!) and we will tray them to display at the reception along with the other desserts and the cake, and also box them and set them out as favors.

    And I still need shoes!

Truth!! I started working on my cookie table list last week.
  • Yay, update! My salon just called and thre eof my girls ordered their BM dresses there and they came in today! I'm going to try my dress on next week so hopefully one of them will come so I can see the dresses next time mine. The sample was an awful shade of kelly green and we ordered in an eggplant purple.

  • Oh let's see: FI has finished all the belt buckles for the GM.  The rest of the sea glass he was making finished tumbling so now I have orange, dark red, medium red and light blue to also choose from for jewelry for the BMs.  FI has a few more cuff links and kilt pins to make and he has to finish up the hangers for the girls.  He completed the test box for the wedding party gifts and decided carving the top of the box wasn't the way to go since it was so time consuming.  We bought all the postage we needed for the invitations...I cried, lol.

We're still in discussion about the beverage service.  We have to decide tonight though so there's one more check.  I decided to go ahead and do assigned tables for the reception and I know what I want to do for escort cards I just have to see if it will work.  I'm very excited that FI came up with a solution to not separating SOs from the WP at the head table!  Instead of a WP head table we're going to have a kids' head table where FI and I will sit with the kids in the WP (and their parents).  It's such a perfect solution because FI is a total kid himself, lol.

I discovered I had overlooked some of the large lanterns for the ceremony so I have to get those painted.  I'm waiting on FBIL for pictures so I can start my centerpieces and I decided that I liked the green and white cake so much in the picture below that I asked our cake lady to make our cake look exactly like it.  She said no problem so YAY!

  • Hey all. Today is my official 100 DAYS!!  Exciting.  This weekend we went out of town on saturday so Sunday were so lazy that we postponed registering.  We were at least productive by looking online and making a list of what we want to register for at the two stores we are interested in.  We will try again this weekend to actually go register :)   Other than that just finalizing/confirming addresses, names of SOs, etc.  In laws tried adding random people to our guest list :/ but luckily my FI is awesome and shut that down w/o prompt from me :)  Hooray for aweome FI!
I got an invite for the bachelorette party, so that was a fun save the date; and we finalized all the room blocks and updated the website-- and people have been messaging me things about booking their flights, so that just makes it real!
This weekend we have a walk through at the venue so I'm looking forward to that and going over the decoration details.  We had to postpone flower consultation, but am trying to schedule in a cake tasting instead.  My FMIL plans on coming with too so we can scope out rehearsal dinner locations.  And oh!  Bridesmaid dresses and my rehearsal dinner dress came in, so I will get to pick them up Saturday-- definitely came in 3 weeks/ not 3 months :)

  • Shoes arrived in the mail today and they. are. perfect.  Still working on DIY stuff.  Trying to book our RD, I'm basically researching and FFIL is paying (yay)  I have 25 round, tea green tablecloths to iron, and a bunch of white rectangle ones, and multiple napkins that arrived this week.

Fi still has 37 invites without addresses, and at this point I dont' care because I would love for our guest list to come down a bit.  I have all the addresses for family (from his mom) and close friends from Christmas cards.  I don't feel like nagging him anymore for them!

  • Hi all! We got our cake ordered and paid for. I ordered and received my girls' flower girl dresses. I thought we had our invites ordered, but there was a problem with the printing so I have to resend them. We are meeting with our photobooth guy next week to see if he can also do our photography since my friend who was going to do it has a family thing and can't. We are also meeting with the caterer next week to finalize everything. I have to get our ceremony info into the church office soon since they will be doing those as a gift to us. I think that's it. Once my MOH comes out from out of state we will get going on our center pieces. It's awesome to read what everyone is getting done.
