  • "the look" is the best. She never raises her voice, she doesn't really argue. I know instantly when I'm on dangerous ground and can then act accordingly (or not).
  • I wouldn't know anything about that look. Innocent
  • My look is even better when I have my glasses on, because I can look at him over the top of my glasses and it makes it just that much more powerful.

This is excellent. I will need to perfect a look. He won't know what hit him.

  • I used to practice how to raise one eyebrow. I can get one a teeny bit up, but not enough effect for "the look."

My look probably is not very intimidating, but however it looks, it works. This weekend I asked H to mow the lawn and he said "tomorrow" and I said "Okay." Then five minutes later he mowed the lawn. I think I have super powers.

  • Not entirely the same thing but when I was growing up, my mom would biiitch and biiitch and yell about stuff when she was pissed at me for something.  If my dad was disappointed, his look was the worst thing in the world.  Way worse than my mom's yammering, no matter what she was saying.  Omg.  Just thinking of the look makes me want to cry.

Yup, me too. Mom could yell and biiiiitch and moan left and right, and it meant nothing because she did it all the time. Dad, however, would sigh and sort of tilt his head to the side, and I'd start crying immediately.

My look involves scrunching my eyebrows and my mouth, and H usually tells me that I'm cute when I do it. Maybe I need a new look.

  • All my mother had to do was crook her left eyebrow at me.  (WTH, TK won't let me use the word cocck in reference to coccking one's eye brow.)

Now I do the same to my kids, and it really works.

I just snorted my cookie up my nose on that one. Totally worth it though. And it was sugar, I'll be wired all afternoon.

I only think the mean girls in a lot of us come out when people ask for advice, and then start acting like tools when they don't like what they've heard. Or they post questions about things that are an absolute "crisis", when most of us only wish that was our wedding issue of the moment!

Wait, that didn't come off too mean, did it?
  • Damn, apparently I missed a lot when I left full time job for the part time job yesterday! Part time jobs suck!

I do applaud your efforts Groom - Many a man have tried, none have ever successful at that. You are a brave, brave man.

I perfected my look when I was student teaching, about a year before I met my FI, poor guy had no clue until one night at the part time job (where we met, he was my "boss") I used it on the 4 teenagers working with us. I'm pretty sure I had it in the bag with him after that. He says he was both terrified and in love all at the same time.

AATB, I feel you on that, too. I think there's some sort of loophole that makes that work for men when they have daughers. My mom would yell, but my dads look killed me every time. To this day it drives my mom crazy!
