    Yea, they are a huge pain.  I had to do the same until one day Andrew agreed to cut them for me...ummm, I looked like I had shelf bangs.  One side super short and the rest long.  So hideous.  Eventually they grew out and I cut them myself.  It's not that hard to trim them.
