Asian Weddings

Boston - SouthEast Asian Dilemma

Background:
My fiance is Cambodian, and I am Thai. We're both hoping for a more modern, and simple wedding preferrably in the Boston area than the usual mess of a wedding in a congested Cambodian wedding venue.

Does anyone know if there are venues, hotels, etc.. in Boston that will cater to the asian needs? Food for example, serving Southeast Asian food or allowing an outside caterer to come in. All I've seen so far are menus with chicken, steak and salmon. Bringing me to my next question... can anyone tell me where I can find asian food that offers catering with people to serve at events, and are not just pick ups?

Any information would help really at this point, haha. Thanks! Smile

    Hi there-

My fiance is Cantonese and I did some searching for caterers who could offer authentic cuisine.  Pengyew Catering sounds like it might be worth checking out!  He works out of Amherst MA but hopefully is willing to travel for weddings.

For venues, some hotels would allow outside catering to provide cuisine that they couldn't offer (Indian, Kosher, Chinese, etc.).  The only one that comes to mind right now that we looked at was the Sheraton Boston Hotel.  It's worth asking if you are interested in a particular hotel.

There are other places for rent in the Boston area that might be flexible with their lists of approved caterers as well.  Some suggestions are:
    CMAC: http://cmacusa.org/HTML/facilityrental.htm
    Commander's Mansion: http://commandersmansion.com/
    Commandant's House: www.commandantshouse.com/

    I hope that helps!!

    Thanks so much!

I would've loved CMAC, but we're having 300 people. But we may cut it down. I have looked at the Sheraton, so we will see where this process takes us!

  • Hi I too am planning a wedding with predominantly Cambodian guests. Have you been able to find a caterer for your wedding? I have just began my search and have yet to find anything.
