Non-traditional Guestbook

Hi ladies! I'm looking for ideas for a non-traditional guestbook--I don't want the same old thing where guests only sign their names. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Re: Non-traditional Guestbook

• My DD made a book on shutterfly using pictures of she and her DH and their family, friends, dogs. They had trips, building a snowman, dates, etc. Guests signed it yearbook style around the photos.Have also heard about using a real coffee table book of something meaningful to the couple. Also things like wine bottles, guitar, sports jerseys, canoe paddles, photo mats, old LP record albums.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
• We're doing a DIY "photobooth." One copy of each photo will go into our guest book, and the other copy will go into a favor for the guest.
• We made a photobook on Picaboo full of pictures of us over the 8 years we had been together. Each page had one or two pictures with a light background so guests could write messages and sign their names. It worked out great and a year later we still have the book on our coffee table.

• We're doing wine bottles. We're buying a couple of the huge champagne bottles and having out guests sign them. We intend to pop them on our 5th and 10th anniversary.
• We're doing a signature frame with a 5x7 photo of us taken at our engagement shoot and posting it on an easel by the escort card table. A 20x20 frame holds signatures for approx 100-120 people. You can get them at Michael's or Bed Bath & Beyond.
• I made a scrapbook with pockets so that guests could write private messages and draw pictures for us. I'm in the process of finishing the scrapbook with our professional photos. Here is a guest using it.Here's how I made it: http://adorkable.so-uneek.com/?go=scrapbookpages

• We both play ice hockey so we had a jersey with our name and wedding date on the back and we had everyone sign the jersey...it was a big hit and came out awesome!
• I also am in the process of making a scrapbook, but mine is more like a story, utilizing fairy tale paper that will have the guest book incorporated into it. The story follows the handsome prince on his quest to find the princess, then they get married (several dorky pages later) and will have pages set aside for wedding photos, but will conclude with a thank you to everyone who has been with us on our journey and several full-sized pages will be out for our guests to sign and write messages on. I plan on ending with a to be continued, rather than "they all lived happily ever after" so I can make a new one when kids come along. Making a scrapbook leaves you open to so many possibilities. I hope to post my pages soon, if I can figure out how in case you want to check out my bio...
• I saw in a wedding magazine this really cool idea, which I will be doing. You get a blank canvas (whichever size you would like) and set out about 6-8 nice paints that all coordinate in color. You then have a sign that says something like this "One stroke, One Love... we would like to ask all of our guests to pick one color of their choice and paint one stroke on this blank canvas. Your combined energies will be the foundation of a piece of art we will cherish for a lifetime" My Maid of Honor is a really great artist, so she is going to take the "foundation" that our guests create and use that as the basis to create a piece of artwork for us that we will have for our new house!
• I'm going to either buy or make my own calendar and have the guests sign their name on the day of their birthday and anniversary.
• My FI and I both play the guitar. We purchased an inexpensive white guitar on Ebay and will have our guests sign the guitar using royal blue markers.(Our wedding colors are white and royal blue). The signed guitar will be hung in the entry way of our home!
