Officiant Payment

I am getting married in Burlington, IA and am so pleased that my sister's father-in-law (a retired minister) has agreed to perform the ceremony for us. I've known him for nearly 20 years, so he is a part of our family. We will not be utilizing a church and it's very doubtful he accept any kind of payment. That said, I fully intend to at least donate something to a church or charity of his choice if he won't allow us to pay him. I was thinking somewhere in the range of $100-200 but am not sure if that is appropriate. Since I didn't shop around for officiants or churches, I have no idea what fee/donation structures are. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Our officiant charged $150. I think that's about the going rate, but I'm no sure. But it sounds fair to me. I think a church would appreciate any type of monetary donation.
