DESTINATION WEDDING

Hey all!
Currently, my gf and I are beginning to plan a destination wedding (hopefully in Aruba) for sometime in March/April/May 2012. We haven't officially gotten engaged yet (my sister is planning her wedding now, and we are waiting so we don't steal her spotlight!). We will be getting engaged 'officially' in the fall. We want to start planning things now so we give ourselves enough time to get everything done! We are in CT, and will be getting married here first, then having the ceremony in Aruba.

Has anyone had a destination wedding? If so, can you please give your best advice??

I wanted a destination wedding but my family and friends would not be able to attend. I have found a nice place on the beach about 40 minutes from my home and I love it.

Any suggestions or advice??

Have you thought about welcome bags? We want to make them for our guests, and have an idea of what we want in them... however, we want to be able to use totes or beach bags as the 'bags' the items go in, as opposed to a paper bag. We have been trying to figure out what to do since the men are not going to want to walk around with a canvas tote bag!! hahahaha We we thinking of maybe a drawstring bag? But then they wouldn't be big enough for what we want to do

We are in the process of planning our destination wedding in Belize. We decided to rent a couple houses on the beach, that way we could control things a little more. So far, it's been smooth sailing...44 days to go! Good luck with Aruba!
