I'm new here and I'm in the beginning stages of wedding planning. My future hubby is Indian so we want to have an Indian/American fusion-y wedding. The wedding will take place over two days and on the first day (the day we actually get married) I want to wear a more American style wedding gown. Do you think it would be strange to wear a Dupatta and an "American" style wedding dress. The dress I have picked out is antique gold and ivory with embroidery on the top and along the bottom of the dress and train. The design and applique of the dress kind of reminded me of a more toned down, Westernized lengha. To tie it into my Indian fusion wedding I am thinking of getting a nice gold or ivory net dupatta with a lightly embroidered design that matches the dress (if I can find it). Would that look strange? I think it might be a nice blend of both cultures and my fiance is planning on wearing a sherwani for both days of the wedding so I want to make sure we coordinate.
