cocktail reception ideas????

Help! I have been searching and searching to find a restaurant on Long Island for my July 16th 2011 afternoon wedding. My finance and I want to keep it pretty simple but elegant. We would like to have a cocktail reception following our 11:30 am ceremony. We would love a waterside restaurant but we are open to look at any great place. We are trying to keep things simple and less costly (around 50 pp). Just open bar, passed around appetizers and a few chafing dishes. Any ideas????

    Kate, you didn't specify if you are looking in Nassau or Suffolk counties -- but here's a link to my recent article on waterfront venues on Long Island:  http://gettingmarriedonlongisland.com/2010/12/long-island-waterfront-weddings-venues/.   Also, take a look at Best Picks on the top tool bar, which includes descriptions of a number of great venues on Long Island.  These are places recommended by local wedding planners, so you can't go wrong!   In addition, click on Ask Claudia under the Categories section on the green sidebar.  I've been asked this type of question many times and I post the Q&As so other brides can use them...Hope this helps you!
