FFF

Not flameworthy, but definitely hilarious. My birthday cake with a misspelled name (and does that even say "birthday"?)

This looks like a picture for... Cake Wrecks!
  • Cake Wrecks... my thoughts exactly! I flame sitting through online defensive driving today. However, I am off work and sitting in bed, and H just brought me coffee. So I guess this is best case scenario.
  • I flame the people at my office.
You can't just make up conversations that never happened and not expect me to call you on it. ESPECIALLY, when it's potentially character-damaging. (I.e. I stole a lead from someone).

  • Haha, I saw that on fb and wondered if it was intentionally misspelled, WendEi.

I flame whatever moron construction worker is outside blasting some bass-heavy music and rattling my walls.  This is the second time this week I've been tempted to take my shotgun outside and raise some hell.

  • Well, I am also off and not wanting to do anything, but at least I don't have to do defensive driving (haha, sorry, Carrie). I do have a million other wedding-related things I should be doing, but here I sit.

I don't really have anything to flame. My mom and I are going later to look at MOB dresses and meet with another potential florist. Happy Friday!

  • I flame that I had to spend the past 5 days in Orlando stuck in conference rooms for 9 hours a day and having to eat high sodium high fat food and dry chicken all week. I feel discusting! On a good note I'm home and was already at the gym this morning and drank a half gallon of water already.

Why do people think that just because 'mommy and daddy' contribute to a wedding that it is a grand magical event that is void of a budget?

I was lucky enough to have generous assistance from my parentals, but it's not like I served filet mignon and lobster or had champagne falling from the heavens. I served boxed wine for crying out loud.

YES. Same, my parents contributed X amount and then told me it was up to me to come up with the rest if I wanted to spend more. And it was NOT a huge amount (by wedding standards), so we did spend some of our own money, but we were ecstatic to get what we did!
And in these scenarios the terms 'mommy and daddy' are so degrading.

Best. Idea. Ever. <div>On that note, I agree completely. It is one day, and most likely, ideas that cost 90k+ aren't going to be remembered. I like weddings that are more personal as it is a celebration of you and your husband. If you want to spend awful amounts of money on something that is special to you two.. go for it.. but don't spend money just to spend it. P.S. the term Mommy and Daddy makes me cringe like no other. Last time I checked, this is not Sweet Valley High.
    <div>
Wendy, your cake cracked me up when I saw it on FB. Just... how...? </div><div>
</div><div>Nothing for me to flame really. I get to go to Aerosmith tomorrow night and I am beyond excited. Saggy Steven Tyler? Count me in <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-sealed.gif" border="0" alt="Sealed" title="Sealed" /> </div><div>Also, DH's best friend (who missed our wedding because he was deployed, would have been BM) is back home and is coming over tomorrow. This man is like my brother and it has been awful not having him around for the past 3 years. </div><div>
    </div><div>
    </div></div>
  • I also think it's worth mentioning that if any of us had unlimited budgets, we wouldn't be on TK asking about affordably vendors and what is worth spending money on.

We would pick up the local D Weddings magazine, point to the biggest wedding in there, and contact all of THOSE vendors.
    amiright?
  • LOL I already submitted to Cake Wrecks. The boys added their own touch by mixing up my candles which was just awesome at that point.

I was definitely rubbed the wrong way by that "mommy and daddy" comment, considering I paid for everything aside from my dress. Hatters be Hattin!

<div>EXACTLY.  I mean, H and I had a pretty big wedding, but we paid (and are still paying) for almost all of it ourselves.  I just hate that attitude that we're a bunch of spoiled little girls stomping our feet until we get our way.</div>

  • Wendi, I seriously thought your cake was a shout out to the spelling wizards of Starbucks writing 'Windy' on your cup. Just like Julie needs a cake that says 'Happy Birthday Jewly'. That still cracks me up!

It seriously irked me all night--I was happy to see that you said something about it. I figured I would save my frustration for today since we haven't had a board related flame in for.ever. I remember when FFF would be 5 or 6 pages of good readin'.

This irked me too. Although my FI and I are paying for our wedding ourselves. It doesn't matter who contributes. There is still a budget. Even if my parents were contributing we would still be going as low budget as possible because my parents don't have money flying out of their butts.
