My brother and sister-in-law got married there a year ago and it was beautiful!!! Their photos are under "John and Michelle" on marciejanephoto.com. The staff was great also!

We loved them - the photo ops are awesome! However, we decided against them last min. due to all the upcharges we did not catch upfront. Its a beautiful site, with great location if you are doing ceremony and reception there as well. GL!

Just one example, they charge a fee to set up the bar, plus a fee for the bartender, plus the fee per drink per guest. For us, that meant paying tripple most of the other venues we were looking at.

Additionally, the fee applied to each bar. So if we wanted cocktail hour outside, we would have to pay for a bar outside plus a bar inside for the reception or go with the bar outside all evening. They also mentioned with our size party (160-180 at the time) that two bars might be a good idea.

We also wanted some things, but not others in the packages. We tried to come up with a custom one but it ended up costing more than the top of the line package even though we'd be getting less. One example: the chocolate dipped strawberries were $4.75 each which we ended up around $2.50 at the venue we went with. Just little things like that which add up in the end. The service fee was also quite high for the area and higher than what we ended up paying. Caveat: prices and fees may have changed since we were looking last year!!

Its not impossible, but have them run through the complete budget with you before you sign to pick up on the lesser noticed charges/fees. Even though we seriously considered it, the value just wasn't there for the premiums and surcharges we would be paying vs. other venues. If you fell in love with it, its almost always worth it though! Good Luck!

Thanks so much for responding. We signed with them awhile back and the only fee on there for the bar is the bartender fee. But there is nothing about a bar set up fee. Thanks for your advice though! I really appreciate it! :)
