What to expect to pay for a photographer - $2k budget

Hello all.  Planning a wedding in St. Louis, MO and starting to look for photographers.  I have a budget of $2k (or less!).  Can I get quality work for this?  Does anyone have suggestions on who to use in St. Louis?

    Oh man, if I lived in St. Louis I'd hire Sal Cincotta.  But he seems way out of your price range, unfortunately.

    I think you can find a great photographer for that price, but it may not include an album or anything, so be prepared to spend some of your wedding gift money on a nice album from your photog!
