    What is a rose ceremony?

We are doing our fraternity & sorority serenades followed by their signature hop and my line's signature wedding stroll.

It is just a part of the ceremony where we are giving our parents a rose as a symbol of love.

    Taken from our actual cememony:

    Flowers for Parents

(This is to be a surprise & not to be rehearsed)

(moving this section is just a suggestion.  Since it is worded “as they stand before us to be married”, it usually works nicely in the beginning of the ceremony since technically after the vows, you are already married.  If you like it better near the end, we might consider rewording the beginning.  Just let me know what you prefer & that is what we will do J.)

As they stand before us to be married, Jason & Yashica would like to acknowledge their parents for the unconditional love & support they have shown them over the years.  The love that the two of you feel for one another is the flowering of a seed your parents planted in your hearts many years ago.  When you were first born, you were a bundle of diapers & tears & your parents lost A LOT of sleep caring for you. Their love for you has brought them great happiness & great challenges & that love did not diminish as they met each challenge you set before them. That is a great lesson you can bring into your marriage.

As you embrace one another in your love, so too do you embrace the families that have been brought together on this happy occasion.  As a token of your gratitude for your families, I would like to ask you to offer these symbols of eternal love, these roses, to your parents.

As the flower girls are coming in they are going to give a flower to people sitting on the end of the aisles. I saw this in a Daily Wedding and it works because at my church you can't throw flower petals. We are either doing the sand or cross ceremony haven't decided yet and jumping the broom.  At reception my FI and his frat brothers will step and serenade.

I was thinking of hiring an entertainer or comedian of some sort to perform during dinner. We'll see if the budget allows for this to happen...

In the beginning before we start our vows I would like to have something said for our boys, to show them they are apart of this marriage as well and that we are all becoming one family. A gift will be given to each most likely jewelry!

I soooo wish my venue would allow this since we're getting married during 4th of July weekend.  I wanted a sparkler send off so bad but they won't let us <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cry.gif" border="0" alt="Cry" title="Cry" />

We're not doing anything way outside of the ordinary for the ceremony besides the rose and sand ceremony.
For the reception, if we can fit it in our budget, I'd love to have an ice cream sundae bar since it's going to be hot and I think it's something the guests would enjoy as a late night snack.  We're also having a photo booth that I'm super excited about.

We are having a live event painting of our wedding reception as it is happening. It's kind of cool b/c we get the actual canvas at the end of the evening.

My sorority will be doing our signature stroll ;)

At the reception, since FI is from New Orleans, we're having a second-line, which is a New Orleans tradition. It's sort of like a parade honoring the bride & groom. The couple will carry wedding umbrellas & everyone follows them waving the white rags while dancing...These are our umbrellas, made by this lady in New Orleans.

We're also having a caricature artist at the reception.

OMG, I LOVE the idea of a caricature artist! THat is SOOO cool!

We're getting married in a loft with a rooftop deck. THe roof has a little room with a bar. I  JUST decided to make this a VIP lounge with a Scotch/cognac bar, jazz and cigars. Of course, all the guests will be invited to the VIP lounge during Cocktail hour. All of these will be a surprise for my Beloved. I wanted SOMETHING in the day to be HIS  Favorite things.
