July 2012 Weddings

68 days for July 28 brides!!!!

I am getting super excited!  Got lots of things done this weekend - took my dress to be hemmed and bustled; picked out my jewlery; had my first shower - a fiesta couple's shower which was fantastic!; asked the volcalist we'd like to sing at our wedding if she'd do so; set up our first session of pre-marital counseling with our pastor (which is this afternoon! - our church was without a full time pastor until March, which is why we're so late doing the counseling); talked to my stylist about hair trail run; set up a time for my bridals!

Hope planning is going well for everyone else and that everyone's getting excited, not stressed!

Re: 68 days for July 28 brides!!!!

  • Woohoo! I can't believe that there's only 68 days left.  I am not stressed at all right now. I've done most of my planning and I just have to wait for my RSVP's to come in before I make the seating chart and escort cards. I do have to do a few things like arrange my final meeting with my vendors and make my wedding programs, but I'm relieved that most of it is done.  My first fitting isn't until mid June so I have a few weeks to focus on losing a few more pounds!
  • Ahh soo exciting! It is coming so fast. I just had my bachelorette and shower this past weekend so now I'm pretty much all set for the big day. The only major things I have left are escort cards once all the RSVPs come in and the programs. I pretty much have everything else done and I am so relieved at the moment (: Though I am sure as it starts getting even closer I'll start stressing out again.

  • I almost peed my pants when I signed on TK this morning and it told me we only had 68 days left. CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I have been staying up till midnight working on invites every night the past 4-5 days.

arunkumar - I tried using the glue-tape stuff that some others recommended - it was great for mounting the invitations onto the backing, but when I tried to glue them into the pocket fold, it absolutely did not work. I ended up having to go the store to buy double sided tape, which worked wonderfully. The glue just didn't work for the heavy folders that had to be folded. So I had to do that part of them twice. it SUCKED but at least your recommendation of the tape worked wonderfully!!

Once we get our invites out later this week (as long as we mail them out before the 2 month mark I will be happy!) we are going to start working on some smaller DIY projects.  We also need to have our final meeting with our church coordinator and our minister to finalize our ceremony.  We are supposed to give them a call in early June and our final meetings will be in mid-June! After we have our meetings and finish writing our ceremony we will design our programs.

We also need to figure out our OOT guest bags. Fiance wants to decorate some small boxes and give them boxes instead of bags, he thinks we can "stuff" them prettier than we could a gift bag. We will see!!
  • I know!! FI and I were just talking last night about how quickly it's coming up!

I too had my shower this weekend and it seems like reality hit me! It will be here before we know it!
  • I'm so excited!!!  My first fitting is tonight and I've had my wedding dress here at work hanging on my office door.... i keep looking at it...
  •   I am so overwelmed with everything.Smile

  • I  I have so much left to do- time is flying by!

FI and I worked on addressing our invitations from 3-11 on Saturday and 3 hours yesterday.... and they're not done! The printer keeps jamming and it takes multiple tries to make it work.  We got the outer envelopes done on Saturday after fixing the mail merge, but then only 1/3 of the 110 inner envelopes yesterday grr. Now it's too late to have them caligraphed so we just have to suck it up and keep trying.

So, aside from invitations I need to:
    - find another seamstress since mine went to Portugal and the dress is still too big up top
    - make ceremony programs
    - buy wine/make cookies/wrap up the OOT gift bags
    - make brochure thing for OOT gift bags
    - figure out RD since FILs are leaving this up to me
    - figure out our song/make a list of songs for the DJ
    - finish the table numbers
    - make escort cards
    - finalize favors and then assemble them
    - have my hair/make-up trial
    - have "engagement" session with photographer

I'm hoping that since I have 4 weeks off before the wedding  and FI is done with his busy time at work it'll all come together ahhhh

It sucks you had to do that part twice but I'm glad my recommendation to use double sided tape worked out! I plan to use double sided tape for my programs too because it worked so well for sealing the invitation envelopes. I never realized double sided tape could be so useful!
  • Omg! We just got our first RSVP's today. This is all happening so fast! I still have a ton to do but I feel like it will all work out :)

  • I feel like it's passing perfectly.  Only things stressing me out are wrapping up the bills before July.  I want everyone paid off well in advance so I don't have that hanging around.

I'm working on our diy signs on old barn boards.  I want to make escort card type things but realize it's silly without a single rsvp yet.
  • Ahh, the to-do lists from everyone else (while immensly helpful) are a stark reminder of how much I have left to do!
For those receiving RSVPs already- did you feel like it made it all a little more real??

Also, is anyone else slightly jealous that we'll go through a month of everyone's wedding before our own? (but on the other hand think of the advice we'll get!!)

  • Yay! So exciting!! And nerve wracking lol I've got one my florist visit tues, meeting w the reception space to pick meals options and this sat is one of my showers. oh and I'm getting the invites out tomorrow! :)
    Anniversary
  • The RSVP's definitely make it feel more real. I am not jealous at all of being one of the last on this board to get married. I still have so much to do! I think I would be totally freaking right now if my wedding was July 1.

  • I should think that way but I'm kind of to the point where I just want it to be the day and I'm sooooo ready for a vacay/honeymoon!
