Well it really depends what your looking for. There are some great outdoor places here for ceremonies like the rose garden and the bridal glenn in Foster Park.  I've heard the best bridal shop to go to here is Bride to Be on Broadway.  I've grown up but am just starting to plan my wedding right now too. depending on your budget and wedding size Ceruti's offers package deals for receptions and Goegliens is a classic. They also have free venue rental if you buy $2000 in catering from them. Downtown the Scottish Rite hosts people wedding and receptions all summer long. Botanical Gardens does as well. If you want to have it in a church Trinity English Lutheran downtown is just gorgeous. It has castle like gothic architeture i just love. Unfortunatly for me they won't leave "god" out of the ceremony even though they agree it is a pretty ceremony ^-^

Its really not that expensive to have a nice wedding here, it just depends what your priorities are.

Definitely check out DrFeelGoods for a possible DJ. Some great photogs in the area are Matt Hall, Anna McClary, 4Ever Photography (our photog), &  Westworks.
Venues are all over the place here, we're doing ours up in Auburn at the ACD museum, but you can also look at the Grand Wayne Ctr, the Embassy Theater, Goegleins & Ceruits (of course), even the FW Museum of Art. Drses shops to stop by: definitely Bride to Be (got my dress there) & the Perfect Dress.  I have links to most of these places in my "un-bride" blog, if you want more info.

I've heard a lot of people say amazing things for that bakery, I've lived a block from there and never stopped in.

I've been meaning to post a reply but haven't been on TheKnot much lately.

I will tell you who we are using for vendors, and I have to say, everyone of them has been fantastic and very reasonable.  I have been planning my wedding since the end of Demember '08 and will be married May 22, 2010.  SO... I've had time to research and review the best prices around the Fort Wayne area.  Any questions, just ask.

Bridal shop:  The Perfect Dress (260) 422-9900‎.  Owner's name is Lori.  Located on West Jefferson Blvd.  Need to make an appointment to try on bridal gowns.  No appointment needed to look for BM dresses and Mother's dresses, shoes, accessories, etc.

Alterations: Stitch 'N Knits (260) 744-0698.  Located on Broadway.  They have the lowest price for alterations in town.  Also came very highly recommended by Lori at The Perfect Dress (since Lori no longer does alterations).

Reception Venue: Fort Wayne Marriott (260) 484-0411
Delicious food, and everything is all-inclusive.  There are no charges for basic decorating (using their pieces), no charge for bar, no charge for dance floor, no charge for cake cutting, and we even get a complimentary hotel stay the night of the wedding.  Guests get a discounted rate for hotel rooms if needed.  They have been very accomodating since my original reception venue closed down (The Landmark Reception Centre).

Cake: Majestic Cakes in Ossian, IN. Owner is Lynne Adam. (260) 622-4627
Her cakes are very moist, very delicious, unlike any other cake you have tried before, no joke!  Her cakes are also comparable in cost to Nutcracker Sweet.  Her cakes are THE BEST.  EVER!

Photographer: Westworks Photography.  Owners are a husband-wife team, Corey and Kate West. (330) 703-3609.  Check out their website:  http://www.westworksphotography.com/index2.php

DJ: Keith Hileman (Lightning Strikes Once).  Located in Auburn, IN (260) 627-8796
We met him at the ACD bridal show wayy back when in January 2009.  We have him for 5 hours and his cost is about $450.

Flowers: Linda Maggert (One of a Kind Events).  (260) 503-9597.  Linda has been a florist for nearly 30 years, and she is also a wedding planner.  I gave her my budget and she really worked hard to stay near my budget.  As she told my FMIL and I, she only does two weddings in one day so she can focus and give her brides the attention and quality they deserve and want.

Hair: Megan Haft (In Touch Salon 2)  The business phone line is: (260) 436-2500.  Megan is a great friend of mine who is a senior hair stylist at In Touch 2.  She is very sweet and listens to her client's needs.

Makeup: Amy Hanna (Mary Kay Rep)  Her business line is: (260) 409-0800.

All Fort Wayne Reception Halls- with the exception of the Allen County Fairground and the Sheriff's Reserve will require that you spend "X" amount of dollars in food catered by their choice of caterer, plus the rental for the hall.  So if that is an issue for you like it was for my fiance and I, then I hope this helps!  Good Luck!
