Recommend your Videographer!

Planned my whole August wedding now my mom insists on video because I'll regret it. (She wishes she had done it and she's right.) Please recommend yours or tell me what price range I should expect. Not even sure what to look for so any advice helps. Thanks!!!

Edit: Also, I am looking for someone who is barely there.  I just want footage of walking down the aisle and first dance type of things, so please recommend your videographer if you didn't even know they were there.  Thanks!

Well, I'd looked on the NJ Knottie Vendor Review site (LINK) first. Based off of that & additional recommendations on here, I went with GT Modern Creations. We just signed the contract today. It's $1500 for 2 shooters, all-day coverage, shot in HD, 3 DVDs & 5 min highlight.

<div>I'm not sure how high videographer budgets can go.  If it was a few thousand or so, it would probably be fine.  Less is good, but I want steady, high quality footage.</div><div>
    </div><div>Thanks!  I will check their site.</div>

I'm so upset GT Modern is booked for my date.
    I really like their work.
I am also looking for recommendations.
Good Luck to you on your planning.

Just booked GT Modern Creations! Best quality I've seen on a wedding video for the price. They are a great couple to work with!

I used Bitcon Productions.  They have offices in Wayne and Hoboken.  We got our trailer and it was exactly what we wanted - more of a music video style and less of a chronology.  I had no idea he was there and was excited he captured some special moments that I didn't even know happened!  I'll PM you a link to our video.  Here's their website:  http://bitconproductions.com/

Mercy, your mom sounds a lot like mine. ;)

We only hired a videographer to make her happy - we used Michael at Your Cinematic Wedding. (My review hasn't been posted on the review site yet.) As it turned out, he was one of our favorite vendors, and the product was so impressive, we can't believe we ever believed going without video was a good idea.

<div>Awesome! I can't wait to see his art product that will come of our wedding :] We hadn't thought really about doing a videographer, but when we saw his work and he was recommended by our photographer, we knew we had to have one and it had to be him.</div>

<div>My cousin used them and their video came out so good!!! Your brother is in good hands :)</div><div>
</div><div>Mercy, we are probably going to go with daniel lee video.  I actually went to high school with him and we are meeting him on Tuesday to look at samples, etc. FI was really against doing a video, but I finally convinced him.  We are just going to do a very basic package.  I did contact GT Modern b/c my photographer recommended them, but they were booked for our date. </div>

I definitely would not recommend my own, but I have friends that used Mike Simmons and Your Cinematic Wedding. I was in both weddings and both were completely unobtrusive and their videos were really amazing, one actually made me cry a bit.

Although, there are some positive recs about Your Cinematic Wedding, we also hired him and were not thrilled with our choice.  So if you look into him, just be aware of these things:

sent in my deposit, which was cashed and had to call to him for our contract after going back and forth he realized he put my deposit in the wrong pile, which delayed us getting our contract.
I was always the one to contact him first (I found this very unprofessional). Especially when we got out video 1 month later than the contract date, I feel I wouldn't have known if I hadn't emailed him.
The video was just ok, he missed some crucial parts of our ceremony.
I was told he was in the way in the aisle and some guests couldn't see around him.
He wore jeans to my wedding even though in the contract he said he would wear black pants.

Another vote for Rob from Villanovisions!  We are paying around $2000 for him.  My sister also used him for her wedding, and he was so unobtrusive on the day of the wedding, yet somehow captured everything.  He was the first vendor we booked when we got engaged.  Good luck!

</div><div>Sorry you had to go through that! It sucks when you find great reveiws on a vendor and you book them, then they suck. This happened to me too, but with a different videographer. I hope you got some money back. </div>

    Thanks for starting this post.

I'm trying to find a videographer but it's been difficult. I'm looking for (and willing to dish out the money for) a really good "movie style" videographer and all the ones that I have contacted are either a) booked or b) don't answer back after I tell them where I'm getting married. It's getting really frustrating. I really liked GT but they were booked on my day. I'm going to check out some others that were posted here though..thanks!

Try contacting AJ Ingoglia.  You can search him on Facebook and vimeo (where he includes many of his trailers).  He was great to work with, reasonable, and unobtrusive.

My husband didn't want to get video and after seeing the video he is sooooo glad he listened to me about getting it.  We couldn't of been happier with our video.  It was so great to sit back and watch the wedding.  We used Unique Video Productions and were very happy with our video.

    GT Modern Creations!!!

Their prices have increased since our wedding ($900 to around $1500). They were a wonderful couple to work with and made me feel like I had friends filming our wedding. Here is the highlight:  http://www.blog.gtmoderncreations.com/?p=1533

The only downside right now is the fact that Gabriel is the only one who works on the editing process so we're still waiting for our video from August 2011. They had a very busy year and are a little behind.

When it's in a contract I don't expect him to be dressed down when all of our guests dressed up.  It looked sloppy and was unprofessional.  I wouldn't have cared if it was black jeans, but when you wear blue jeans, it stands out.

That was just one of the things I was unhappy with.

I was considering him also & met with him. I enjoyed his work, but felt that it was much more expensive to get the exact same product from GT Modern Creations. The prices on his website are purposely deceiving. Once you get the video in HD and for any type of reasonable amount of hours, the price climbs over $2-3000. I can get the same quality with unlimited hours from GT Modern Creations for $1500<div>
</div><div>Plus, I felt that Rob had a bit of a cocky arrogant attitude. I didn't appreciate that, nor think that it made any sense for me to rearrange the hours of my wedding just to fit his schedule. His work is great, but I didn't feel that it was worth it.</div>
