Indoor reception venue in LA for under $1,500?

Hi Ladies,

I'm looking for a reception venue in Los Angeles that will seat 75-90 people for less than $1,500 on a Saturday night. Is there such a thing? It seems like everything is $3,000 - $4,000 just to give people a place to sit!

We'd like to have our favorite restaurant cater (C&O Trattoria) and bring our own beer & wine, so it really just needs to be a big room with tables and chairs. In a perfect world, it also has space for a little dancing (not neccesarily a dance floor proper) and a string quartet.

I've seen Culver Events recommended highly, and love how accommodating and full service they are. Unfortunately, their rate is still too high at about $4,000. Any suggestions for similar venues? Obviously, some sacrifices would have to be made to cut costs, but it has to be a Saturday night.

You should look under city of Los Angeles rec and parks... They have banquet rooms all over la and they are really affordable

Thanks for the suggestions, everybody! We ended up just booking the private room at C&O Cucina (C&O's sister restaurant just down the street). They have a $1,000 per hour food & beverage minimum on Saturdays, but we would've spent that much renting the room and tables and chairs etc. anyway. And now we don't have to do any of the work!

I did reach out to some of the LA Parks & Rec sites (other friends suggested that, too), but was never able to get anyone on the phone. Not a good sign when you're already an anxious bride!

I will say, Shaicandie, if you're still looking, that we also considered doing the reception at our ceremony site immediately following. We're doing our ceremony at Forest Lawn in Glendale, and they've recently started letting the summer wedding parties book the outdoor patio for $300 per hour. It's a better price than anything else we found in LA, but you still have to rent everything yourself and they don't have an indoor back-up option in the [admittedly unlikely] event of rain. Just something to consider. We almost booked it, but in the end I just didn't want to coordinate that many vendors on my wedding day.

So I am having my bridal shower at the Altadena community center. The center is very nice and the guy said they have wedding and receptions there often. They have a kitchen and a big room. The guy was really nice and gave us some great planning ideas! Altadena Community Center....
